that is a bad assumption Nero. maybe by the stats Oski posted, maybe the concealed carry law slowed the rate at which murders were dropping year-by-year. ie the trend of murders was a sharp decline and concealed carry law actually generated more murders. In no way do I firmly believe the above as a legitimate conclusion. but it points out the idiotic conclusions people can make with a bucket of stats with no context and a lot of assumptions
Depressing to see that a person cannot understand the difference between getting mad at a possible misleading story with getting mad at actual murder rate. Did anyone here actually state they hate the fact that less people have died?
Not saying killing anyone is right, but people often forget that the majority of these are gang members killing other gang members. Pretty pathetic how the media illustrates Chicago as such a "murder capital" when it really isn't that.
More depressing that some people would rather play with guns than live around blacks, which would have reduced the murder rate decades ago.
That just means there were 6 less people acting a fool than the months before... The people in Chicago killing people and getting killed are just gangsters... They could care less about the new law so I doubt it is related. Probably a coincidence
Chicago is a generally safe town unless you live in certain areas. But if you live in those areas, it's bad...gang member or innocent, it sucks. Major probably killed (with truth) the point of the article, but violent crime is coming down off of an artificial high. Both the increase and drop were due to police strategies. Concealed carry laws are irrelevant to this trend. We have yet to see what happens to Chicago with concealed weapon laws. My guess is a few more kids get shot because of careless parents who don't realize how important it is to be careful with your weapon. I'd be shocked if "crime" trends change at all.
Conceal carry does not and has not caused gun crime to skyrocket anywhere, which was (and still is) one of the talking point used to oppose it.
This thread is stupid. First the sample size is small, secondly the murder rate in Chicago has been going down since last year because of other things than people being more armed. 1 star.
Homer: Not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol must be working like a charm. Lisa: That's spacious reasoning, Dad. Homer: Thank you, dear. Lisa: By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away. Homer: Oh, how does it work? Lisa: It doesn't work. Homer: Uh-huh. Lisa: It's just a stupid rock. Homer: Uh-huh. Lisa: But I don't see any tigers around, do you? [Homer thinks of this, then pulls out some money] Homer: Lisa, I want to buy your rock. [Lisa refuses at first, then takes the exchange] -- Maybe he wants it as a pet, "Much Apu About Nothing"
I'm not quite sure what your point is here. Aren't most murders in Chicago the victim and perpetrator are of the same race?
I dismissed his point entirely. I think he meant I prefer to play with guns than live with black people? Not sure to be honest. Most of the posts trying to be cryptic just end up being craptic.
classic ToyCen/TexasStake "discussion" thread. still posting from the top headline at www.abovetopsecret.com (word for word down to the thread title- spam?) and not apologizing for putting in Hangout. offering little to no analysis besides "interesting" and asking others their thoughts so that he can remain relevant as a discussion moderator over here at clutchfans.net ugh.
Obviously. What I'm saying is, some people who don't know a lot about it like to assume tons of innocents just get killed there everyday. It's gangs fighting other gangs, and yes at times innocent civilians get killed too, but the media likes to portray the entire city as dangerous for some reason. That's not even close to being the case.
