I am surprisingly ok with this. He's still the Puerto Rican Whore but now he's OUR Puerto Rican Whore.

Hope he stays healthy. Hinch is going to have fun filling out the lineup card and keeping everybody happy with their ABs.

Lineup depth is now absolutely insane. I'm pumped.

Like the deal. Beltran brings a very very solid veteran bat with power to a young exciting lineup

Marisnick will have plenty of opportunities to pinch run late in games.

I like the signing. It's interesting, to me, though.

Having him for only one year, to me, takes trading Bregman in a deal for Sale off the table (assuming you don't still sign Encarnacion). The only way you do that is IF, and only if (big IF) you don't include Tucker and are planning on fast tracking him to the majors by 2018.

I like the deal though. Veteran presence. Cap flexibility. Lineup depth. Very Morey-like.

    Stsy healthy, Carlos. Welcome back.

Wait and see what Luhnow says when they officially announce the signing.

Astros spending some money on solid vets. I like it. Hope Beltran can stay healthy.

Would the Astros won it all in 05 with Carlos?

a calculated move with high upside and low risk. had it been encarnacion we signed i would be ok with moving some of our big league talent for a sale type trade - with essentially a 1 year rental in beltran, I'm hoping that is now off the table (meaning moving the likes of springer or bregman)

Such a great run back in 2004 in his first postseason appearance. Hope he can come back and take care of some unfinished business; go 'stros!!

I wonder if all the stupid fans that still booed him 10 years after he left will come on board. :p
