Gattis isn't playing 1B. When that 9 is trotted out, Gattis will be DH, Beltran in LF, and Gurriel at 1B. Could also see McCann at 1B and Gattis at C, but wouldn't anticipate it.
I have all of mine already sealed up and put away with all my old newspapers. That would be cool to have one framed when they win, with the local sports page.
Team invested a lot of money on Gurriel, I expect him to be an everyday player at 1st base, or at least get the brunt share if in a platoon role. With the Signing of Beltran, it means he is getting the brunt share at Left Field. Aoki and Marisnik are the reserves. McCann and Gattis should share duties fairly evenly. I expect the DH will be by comitee: Gattis, McCann, Beltrán, and Yuriel.
Did y'all know that in his career, Beltran had played in the OF a total of 2196 times. Yet he has only played 2 time, that's right, two time in LF. Oh and he's played one time in 1B. He's not the elite defender of yester-decade, but his weaker arm and reduced range should be aided by playing in a short LF in Minute Maid.
Feel like the Rockets just traded for a 39 yr old that left us standing at the alter in his prime Karl Malone.
I really hated Beltran for a long time, but at the end of the day, it should've been directed towards Drayton. Beltran took the highest offer. How can you really despise that? Drayton should've matched the offer, we didn't want him as much as NYM, point blank.
This will be my only post on the past because it's been discussed ad nauseam, but that's not how it went down.
Correct, the money was the same but the Astros wouldn't give him a no trade. I have probably been his harshest critic for leaving but he really wanted to stay in Houston and just wanted the Astros to show commitment and they didn't. I hope Carlos can make a difference and the fans forgive and embrace him.
I think Hunsicker was willing to give the no trade but Drayton wasn't. Hunsicker resigned shortly thereafter and that's why we were in hell for the next 10 years. Hunsicker was the best GM we ever had.
