Not sure about how I feel on this signing, if it attracts others players to sign or be traded to us then I'm all for it. But, dude is singing again about baseball and I like to listen to this song when I think of the Astros.
My assumptions could be off, but they are much more likely than not. It isn't like Astros got him on a cheap deal and he had a great half season. There's a chance the CWS want him, but the Astros likely have a lot of prospects that the CWS would prefer to recieve and that the Astros would prefer to deal. I ignored the rest of the package because it made sense that those guys would be wanted by the CWS. I think the package you suggested should be more than enough with or without Gurriel, but I suspect CWS want more and will likely find a team willing to do it. I'm not as down as a lot of people are on the Astros pitching staff. I'm also more of a gambler than most here. I'd roll with the dice with other guys thinking odds are greater than 50% one of them turns out half as good as Sale will be for the rest of his contract, but be under control for more than twice the time with less chance of getting hurt. I'm also a firm believer in that it is easier to destroy a team's chances of winning the world series over a long period of time than it is to improve a team's chances over a short period of time (i.e. It is better to spread value over a few years and players than concentrate it too much into a short period of time or too few players).
If the injuries in the staff hadn't happened, we would have been rolling into the postseason this year. Ahead of schedule last year to the point of almost getting there...They're ready to go for it all now... Luhnow has us stacked as our window is open NOW.
More like this Springer CF Bergman 3B Altuve 2B Correa SS Beltran DH Reddick RF Gurriel LF McCann 1B Gattis C
He's fallen off post-ASG last 5 seasons and is not getting younger. His games played at C should be 90-110.
I wish I could figure out what I did with my physical copy of this. I'd like to frame it when we win.
