I honestly don't buy it, otherwise why hasn't the Heat been able to get anyone since their big 3?

If we were smart we would work with Presti to **** block the **** block by forcing CP3 to Miami, Brodie to wherever and getting what we want.

because they used up all their cap space on bad contracts after overachieving for half a season...they just got Butler, and Russ wants to go there too

I see how many of these players talk about analytics and the level of distaste they have for it...I bet many of them don’t hold Morey, the god of analytics, in high regard

If there is a way to acquire Iguodala in a Shumpert S&T, Morey needs to get it done. He’s an elite defensive wing and proven playoff performer with some playmaking ability. Plus, it keeps him away from the Clippers or the Lakers.

okc has been paying luxury tax to be a 1st round exit the last few years, so that's exactly what they've been doing lol

This, would be absolute entertainment watching for the eventual timeout huddle brawl.

Nobody has the cap room to absorb Westbrook's salary. OKC would likely take back expiring deals. It doesn't help them this year but they would be out from under Westbrook's deal at the end of next season( or the next at the worst).

From Miami's perspective, they are hard capped and sitting less than $1M under the hard cap. They'd just have to send out salary equal to or slightly more than Westbrooks. The one thing that Miami can do is match salary with expiring deals. They have a bunch.

I don't think that Miami is concerned with the upcoming season. They have a ton of money coming off the books the following two years.

A big factor in any WB trade will be OKC's expectation for a return for him. They obviously want to get rid of his salary but are they expecting other positive assets other than expiring contracts?

Miami doesn't have any draft picks to offer. Could they trade for WB using strictly expirings? Or do they have to include a young guy like Winslow?

Denver got Grant for a bag of chips...

If we really weren't trading for Westbrook, htf did we not get at least Grant? Surely we could've offered them more than 1st.

EVERY single one our competition in the West from last year got better this year except us.

Somehow people here are still completely fine with running it back and praying for a different outcome.

What was our excuse last year? Lost to Warriors in 6 and KD didn't even play in game 6?

After Lebum left the East (Toronto's roadblock for years), did their GM just sit back and #RanItBack hoping they'd win it all? No, they went out there and got Kawhi which put them over the top. Without Kawhi, they would've lost to the Bucks. Just like this year if we just sit pat, we're going to end up losing to another up and coming team that improved their roster. Then the same people here will be wondering how did we waste another year of Harden's prime next offseason.

Get in the deal for Olynyk or Winslow (I would be ok with either or both)

That would leave them with who on their roster?

I like Herro as much as the next guy, but none of those guys have shown the capability to be a star in the league.

Unless their goal is to completely suck balls...

Wrong beggars cannot be choosers. This is one time where teams like the Lakers, Clippers, and Heat are at the mercy of others to add talent. They have little to no flexibility and have a desperate need for the talent now. That is why Miami was interested in trading for Wall and Beal together after Butler. Their destinations help them but as you saw in the PG13 trade they will massively overpay. We and other teams can take advantage now if smart. Brodie and CP3 are now valuable instead of toxic contracts to teams that now have no other way for several years to make moves. This is the all-in era.

The Thunder found a deal where they didn’t have to take any salary back because Denver had a huge trade exception. The Rockets couldn’t offer them that.
