    https://www.freep.com/story/sports/...detroit-pistons-russell-westbrook/1668328001/

I immediately sent a text to someone who would know if the Detroit Pistons would be interested.

    I received a coy response.

    “What would you give up?”

Westbrook will make $38 million next season, so the initial thought was the Thunder would have to take back Andre Drummond’s $27.1 million as part of any package.

“They would want picks. They have (Steven) Adams, no interest in Drummond. Doubt there is anything there.”

Of course, it didn’t end there.

The Athletic reported late Saturday night that the Pistons and Miami Heat “are very real possibilities” to land Westbrook.

My journalistic duties require me to reach out to persons with firsthand knowledge of the situation, and two sources say there is nothing in the works.

“Ridiculous,” a league source texted. “Nothing there.”

Later in the text exchange, the source asked: “What would be the teams that want him?” he wrote.

    A very good question.

Brooklyn this year ok. They got a locker room stud in kyrie and an Achilles ruptured kd. And no ny has not always been a desired destination. The media wanted everyone to believe that for the last decade. Never came close to any of the fake news

I have a feeling that Westbrook will end up somewhere nobody saw coming.

Depends on what you’re referring to.

    Basketball? No.

Wouldn't trading Westbrook to the Heat just be devaluing their future picks?

None of those guys can match salaries.

Gordon and Capela are better assets.

Aww, Westbrook's not coming here? He was going to solve our rebounding problem.

Westbrook is a negative value player for most of the league so yes, given that the only required asset is willingness to see out his golden years.

Neither Gordon or Capela are better then any of those assets for OKC. Miami has Dragic who is a 19 mill expiring. Winslow makes 13 mill. Those two combined make it a legal trade, the Heat would just have to figure out how to stay under the hard cap at that point. Stretching and waiving Meyers Leonard over 3 seasons just about does that.

Part of me would love to see a Butler/Westbrook combo try to not kill each other or teammates. :D

If that's the case then I guess you could count out Miami as takers of CP3 in a potential three team deal. Now with a FOURTH team involved maybe we could cook something up ;)

I want him there so bad. Jimmy a lil b**** in my book now. Been watching his YouTube, he totally went there for the lifestyle n to be the lead dog,not to win. Westbrook would over shadow him

A pick in the hand is worth 2 in the bush...

If they get 3-4 firsts for Westrbick they would have to be ecstatic.
Separated by 2 years, there is a remote lottery chance in there. That is one you take when rebuilding that way
They are also 1st you can put in a trade for someone else

You don't just sit on them ala Boston. You cash em in for Harden ala Morey.

If a star player really wants to go somewhere, it can happen.

The Heat fans can be excited, but a combo of Westbrook and Butler isn’t winning anything and limits the Heat for years.

They won't get 3-4 picks if they trade him to the Heat and they already own 2 Heat picks. The Heat can't trade any more picks. So, if they trade Westbrook to Miami, their picks just get worse. There are definitely better deals for OKC
