For all the "No Snitching" campaigns and the mar1juana smoking and Twitter thuggery being criticized, I don't want to downplay the effect of bad character and knuckeheaded-ness, but I think those are things that don't bother OTHER PLAYERS that much.

They look terrible in the papers. Its bad examples for kids to look at. But I think players have a higher tolerance for those transgressions than it appears. I think a slacking McGrady is worse for morale than a immature thugging but consistent Carmelo. Artest showed that a team can respond with a quirky but decently hard working guy over a listless uninterested guy.

(Can we put to rest the notion that mar1juana and performance enhancing drugs is NOT prevalent in sports? )

You could certainly do worse than a Larry Nance type without a higher ceiling. That could be like an unheralded Otis Thorpe type player who doesnt stick out but is solid within what he does.

That was probably the reason why Morey went hard to move up in the draft, even going as far as taking back an albatross contract like Brand's to do it but stupid Sixers balked at the last minute.

Anyways, all this is a moot point because no way the Nets give up Favors, especially since Favors' has the backing of his coach Avery Johnson.

Check your facts, DD. Melo is a more frequent passer than K-Mart

I brought melo and durant up because to me they're the same type. Both are scorers in this league and thats their forte. Of course durant has age on his side, but melo is there. If you switched the 2, the records are more than likely the same. Look at the injuries the anthony led team has had to endure throughout his career. Now if you asked me who would i take right now out the 2, it would be a coin flip with the edge to durant because he's 4 yrs younger, not because he's a better player. Like i said, thats my opinion. Anthony may not be for everybody, but I don't know where DD gets this lack of burning to win from anthony.

I think Melo still suffers from the sulking he did during the first Olympic or maybe World Cup (forgot) he played in. There were many stars then, but he complained about playing time, even at the detriment of the team's win. I don't think he ever managed to clear that image of him. Furthermore, Denver never won much until Chauncey was there, yet another knock on Melo's value to the team.

To me, Melo is a notch below Lebron or Dwade. Both Dwade and LBJ can put a game on their shoulders when need be, while Melo is just a very good player who can help close out games.

    Sixers-Rockets-Nuggets Three Team Deal?

    http://www.philly.com/dailynews/sports/20100924_Source_says_Sixers_won_t_be_a_player_in_a_Carmelo_Anthony_deal.html#ixzz10RDQGoLj

Yes, the 76ers have contacted Denver about the possibility of making a deal for Carmelo Anthony.

Sixers president Rod Thorn, by NBA rule, cannot openly talk about trying to acquire a player from another team, but sources indicate that roughly 20 other teams have also called about Anthony.

There is no reason to believe that the Sixers are in the running, assuming the Nuggets decide to make a trade.

One source with knowledge of the situation said, "They're probably not a player in this."

By all accounts, Anthony - who can be a free agent after the season - has given the Nuggets a list of four teams he would prefer to go to.

Again, by all accounts, New York and Chicago are at the top of the list, although New Jersey and Miami are also included. Some believe that the Nets could eventually have the most to offer, particularly since the Bulls seem to have no interest in including Joakim Noah in a package.

Houston is also said to be involved.

The source said some teams have contacted the Sixers about possibly serving as a third-party facilitator in a potential deal.

"The Sixers would get a player in something like that, but not Anthony," the source said. "They're not interested in that."

Facts are facts. When Anthony has scored 50 once in 514 games then saying "he could go for 50 any night" is a bit of a stretch. By that logic then I can say that Scola could go for 40 any night. It's possible but it's not likely.

Having huge scoring games like that doesn't just correlate to the players scoring average. The guys who go for the huge numbers in a single game are the guys that tend to get hot and stay that way for the entire game. Take a look at Jamal Crawford's stats sometimes. He's more likely to go for 50 than most players who average a lot more than him.

By your definition of "any given night he can go for 50", Tony Delk is a stud and can go for 53 on any given night. We should bring Tony Delk out of retirement.

Melo gets the ball a lot more than Kmart does too.....neither of them pass much, but one is much more efficient...give me that guy.

I disagree VEHEMETLY with what you are saying, especially considering said behavior is coming from your alleged leader.

It is one thing if a role player or lessor player is doing that stuff, but if it is your team's best player/leader.....yeah, it matters.....a lot !

I heard K-Mart is even more efficient than Kobe. Where does that leave DD in the Kobe v. K-Mart discussion?
