Considering the teams he has been on, him being in the top three isn't that unheard of. Before Scola started to get hot, it really was just T-Mac and Yao as consistent offensive weapons. And its worst on the Magic because everyone on the team is streaky aside from Lewis, who had his hands full with Gasol and Odom. As for being a cancer, I doubt he is any more difficult then 45% of the NBA players currently playing in the league. He didn't throw SVG under the bus, so much commented on it, as Van Gundy put himself in the street already for using an injured Nelson and experimenting in the early games as much as he did. Alston isn't so much a cancer but he is someone that is not afraid to talk and try to take charge.
I see your argument for top 3. However, Rafer made himself the 2nd option, which is a definite no-no. There is no way Alston should have taken more shots than Dwight Howard. He's supposed to be a past first PG that knows his role, but he took 14 more shots than Howard. Some of the shots came from offensive rebounds. We take those shots out and it would really bad. NBA Finals Howard 43 shots at 48.8% FG% Alston 57 shots at 36.8% FG% Alston averaged only 3 assists in 32.2 mpg, but took an average of 11.4 shots a game.
Exactly why it is great he is gone.....he shoots too much for a guy who can't shoot...kinda like ...uh...Tmac.... DD
