People overvalued what we could get for wood all year. Now people are undervaluing him. He’s still a talented piece on a great contract. Typical clutchfans lol. Regardless this year is about making sure we didn’t miss on our 2nd pick and getting locked into another high pick. So far so good. We are gonna be fine.
Teams are not going to trade real assets for somebody who... A) Has never made a team better B) Has quit on his team multiple times C) Will demand a huge contract after next season
I agree but the point being, people who think Wood has great value around the league are going to be disappointed when they see what he's actually traded for.
i know it’s a really tough decision. I just dont want to see the rockets turn into the kings or the wolves. It is just so important to have a positive culture to create a good future in sports.
Hate it when these players act up and lower their trade value. Reputation matters just as much if not more than the numbers. And Wood has built a pretty bad rep for himself. I was dreaming about a trade with the Warriors for Kuminga if Wood raised his game this season, but looks like I'm going to have to lower my expectations because Wood still acts like a child.
No one said he has great value lmao relax. I’ve heard people in this thread alone propose anything from a 2nd round pick to outright cutting him. A month ago people said he could easily net a top 5 pick and wouldn’t trade him for Kuminga + Wiseman. Let’s keep things in perspective.
Lots of contenders are desperately in need of a big. Especially one that can stretch the floor. Most of those teams are hard capped making it impossible to find a player of wood’s caliber on a contract that could fit with them. Brooklyn’s front court is a disaster and they have all of their chips in with very little flexibility. I’d be surprised if they wouldn’t trade Cam Thomas and filler. It’s a no brainer for them. The Lakers were rumored to be interested in Theis as a stretch big because AD wants to be a 4 and Howard/Jordan is not working. They’d be foolish not to offer a first if they are intent on keeping THT. Wood is a very good fit on the Warriors. Could put them over the top. They would be foolish not to offer a first if they refuse to part with Moody. The Mavericks need a 5 next to KP and are also hardcappped. The Hornets are in desperate need of a 5. Take Thor and PJ Washington who they likely won’t be able to extend, is a worse player and would likely have a larger contract than wood 2 years from now. Could probably trade Gordon and Wood for Simmons. Whether that is a good idea is another story. The Kings would trade Bagley for Wood in a heartbeat. People still are of the belief that Gordon will net us some great return even though his contract makes it tricky to fit into a lot of contending teams. Wood has more value that Gordon. That should be obvious. So many contenders are all in, hard capped and in need of a stretch big. If Wood is available there should definitely be a bidding war among those contending teams. The idea that wood could net us a top 10 pick was always a pipe dream otherwise stone would have already taken that offer. It doesn’t mean he doesn’t have value.
The #16 pick in the draft, a second pick and a 12.5 mil expiring is little? He was a bench guy for Detroit with a well documented history of clashing with the coaching staff. Even Thon Maker was ahead of him in the rotation. I guess it’s a matter of perspective but that’s pretty good for a guy who did not want to be in Detroit and was going to walk for nothing. You don’t think he’d be at least worth that much now that he’s on a friendly multi year contract and has proven that his one month of consistent play wasn’t a fluke? If anything he’s more of a known commodity now. Lots of Bulls fans today wanting to trade Coby White for Wood. Not sure management would do that even though the Bulls desperately need a 4/5 next to Vuc, Coby has been for the most part a disappointment and Caruso has made him pretty much irrelevant. Just goes to show how all over the map every fan base is.
https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/what-is-woods-trade-value.312090/ Granted this thread was started back in July prior to last year's draft but the thought among a surprisingly high number of people (e.g. >1) was that Wood could net us a top 5-7 pick.
