Yeah if he was going to blow it up it would be done in the off season. No way he could do it right now. You gotta remember we are still in the thick of the playoff hunt. You dont blow up a team when they havent even reached April/May. Something has to be done because this team has no heart, nor pride. I wish someone on this team would just get mean, thats what winning teams have. When the Celts are down, KG steps up his intensity. Same with Kobe and Lebron. When this Rockets teams get down, our big players tuck their tails and curl up into the fetal position. GET A PAIR!
The real problem is that right now Rockets is so talented that they only T-mac be a 15-5-5 guy to win a WC. and they still fall apart even with the best group of role players on Luis/Shane/Chuck/Rafer.
Then maybe I'll start a thread concerning Yao Ming's chances of duplicating what Moses Malone and Hakeem Olajuwon did for the Rockets during their playing days with the team, which is at least lead them to the NBA Finals. I don't feel that now is the time for me to start such a thread.
Could not agree with you more. A good point guard is the most important position nowadays. And we are running our reefer everyday for the last God knows how many years.
I had said in another thread a while back, keep Wafer in the starting lineup for the rest of the season.
TEAM ball beats one on one ball every time. Tonight...31 assists for the Bucks 18 for the Rockets.... DD
I love Wafer but even against the scrub team the Bucks had out there in the 4th tonight he was taking bad shots and driving the ball with nowhere to go. He isnt a polished player and taking him out of the starting lineup has taken away from his progression. So THANK YOU TSLACK for not only ruining the rockets with you play but also ruining our only valuble asset gained from your injury!
Our window is closed. The Tmac and Yao plan has failed. It's over. When your best player is Yao Ming, who is not a top ten player in the league, and your next best players are not even in the top 30 best players in the league, you dont have a chance of winning a championship. You can win a championship with a superstar and a number of good players (see ClutchCity Rockets); you can win with a few stars and no superstar (see last year's Celtics); but you can't win when you have just one star (not superstar) and a bunch of good players. Nobody has ever done that. Our window may have closed when TMac started to decline. I still expect the Rockets to make the playoffs, but nothing has suggested to me that they won't be one and done again this year. The day they lose in the playoffs this year will be the official end of this era. The next offseason will be very interesting. I have nothing else to say tonight.
"McGrady's first half of the season diva act that had him in and out of the lineup caused Ron Artest to drift off into his own world where he's now just putting up shots and playing for a new contract and it's created a tear in the fabric of what never has had a chance to grow into a team. The atmosphere, if not toxic, is hardly cohesive as they play -- or don't -- like individuals and trust no one. They'll keep telling everybody that there are still 30 games left in the regular season, two months to get everyone back on the leash and their house in order. That's called throwing you a bone. There are no 22-game winning streaks around the corner this time. We've seen their trick routine before and we know how it feels in the end. To use the appropriate vernacular: Ruff! Ruff!" -Fran Blinebury Pretty much the summary of how this season will turn out if they keep going down this road... I don't see them coming out of this slump, the character of these players is totally opposite from the team we had a year ago.
That's what I said and was blasted. The hardest thing to do in sports is to be honest with your team. I've never seen a team with 2 stars give away a lotto pick like the rox did. I'm sure it happened, but the fact the team was in the lotto in the 1st place means something. Didn't have to be Gay, but it shouldve been more than shane.
Too many bad contracts kept the team from assembling the right mix of talent around T Ming. Now that the team has some cap flexibility, T Mac's game is on the decline.
I disagree. The contracts weren't a issue, talent evaluations were. I can start at any point and make valid cases where they went wrong. I can point to the 7.8m te that was allowed to just expire and the team has used the full mle once since they have had it. I've heard how mle never bring good players, but I've seen Hedo,Salmons, and Billups sign for mle. I've seen this team look away from guys who are athletic and can defend their position with size. There are a lot of reasons of why this team has struggled.
Little did we know we were having a slower and gradual Phoenix Suns type descent. Window of oppurtunity shut closed. Fault of - 1) Too numerous to list
Good perhaps, but great? Do you really think Alston/Brooks, Wafer, Landry/Scola, Yao, and Battier would go anywhere? I'd say lottery time. We would have to get an awfully good deal for Artest and McGrady to avoid that.
