because no other coach would do any better with this young roster. Not saying he is a good coach, but you have to take in to account the roster handed to him.
Who says he doesn't. Just because you don't see it consistently in games, doesn't mean they are not teaching it in practices. It doesn't happen overnight unfortunately
I say he doesn't because I NEVER see it, if he is doing it and they aren't listening then he is too weak of a coach to sit them until they do. DD
lol you are judging a young team against one that is in their prime in fundamentals. You are expecting players from rookies to 3-4 years in the pro league to be amazing at fundamentals and that is never going to happen on any team. You have to be patient, it takes time to learn
I feel bad for Silas. I don’t know if it’s all on him, but he hasn’t really shown anything since Day 1. Firing him this early in the season, when we weren’t expected to be competing anyways (once JW decision was made), doesn’t help much. For one, it sends a bad signal to the team about organizational stability. Second, who do we replace and what’s it going to change? any long term coach isn’t likely coming from within and is probably not unemployed right now, so we might as well bite the bullet and finish the season.
I am expecting some improvement, I am expecting to see guys getting better, knowing their roles (Defined by the coach) and working in a system (put in place by the coach) - what I see is an utter mess, guys giving up on plays, whining to the referees, and not even trying at times on defense. What this team needs is a disciplinarian coach to TEACH them the NBA game - Silas may be a decent coach for the Lebron's of the world, but he SUCK BIG HAIRY ASS as a coach of young players. DD
and that happens after 13 games does it? these things take a lot of time with such a young team. Newsflash, Phil Jackson wouldn't be doing any better with the same team. Unless you are at trainings and seeing what Silas is teaching, you don't know what he is doing
Improvement does, and didn't we lose 20 in a row last year too? SILAS SUCKS - we will never win anything with him - and these guys will develop more slowly because he sucks. DD
The team has totally given up. Guys aren't even contesting shots, getting back on defense and often not even boxing out. Most rookies have been taught basic basketball for most of their lives. Most plays are either broken plays or look completely improvised. One or two passes and a typical play is already broken. I've also noticed that Woods is out of position *constantly, often a great distance from his assignment. It's so non-competitive it's just not fun to watch with no joy at all.
Thing is at this point it doesn't necessarily matter if it's Silas fault or not because he has lost the faith of the team and it shows. Even if Silas is somehow a strong coach without team participation he is just spinning his tires. Might need to put in a strongman type.
I struggle to see where the Rockets will win their second game. Are we lining up to play Detroit again any time soon, Orlando? This could get uglier.
improvement doesn't happen overnight....................... Last year when we had a heap of injuries and couldn't get a consistent rotation going. That many injuries will kill any teams chance of a consistent run. You are expecting 19 year olds to be 5 year vets already
Can't blame it on covid or injuries like last season. Eventually the excuses will run out. The players are young but they aren't good. Maybe behind the scenes they're improving, but so are the other young teams. It's never in a vacuum. Talent in the NBA is relative. The young Thunder has 5 wins now. Pistons and Magic have 3 a piece. Rockets can be bad, without being historically bad. 'Playing with pace' seems to be hurting the team more than helping. Just because we have some young lungs doesn't mean they run the break well. In fact whole team seems turnover prone. Each player needs to learn to do 1 to 2 things well, instead of trying everything.
Surely you'd expect a coach with any real promise, after the miserable season he had, coupled with the fact that he's gained the most new information possible going from year 1 to 2, to show SOME SORT of improvement right??
