I think mobley will likely be better, but can't predict the future. Who knows, green might turn out ok.

In the NBA GM survey most GMs thought mobley would be the best player in 5 years, but they also thought wiseman would be the best player in 5 years too.

To the OP, Cleveland exit is that way and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

To the rest of the Mobley piners, here is one thing you are forgetting... HE DID NOT WANT TO BE HERE!

This team could not use a high IQ player who is not foul prone or turnover prone amirite?

And if Sengun looks this good on Rockets, it is ridiculous to believe that Mobley would not look as good.

As for not happy to be here, that was a rumor and never verified by Mobley himself who only said good things about Rockets.

Why is it so hard to give the kid his flowers?

You’re NOT getting Mobley my friend. Why would they trade Mobley? I mentioned Bol Bol because he’s young and may actually be available. No he’s not where Mobley is ( who should have gone #1) but he’s an interesting prospect.

Why keep pining for a guy who is not here and just deal with reality of OUR team and try to make the best of a bad situation? These threads only lead to further division and people getting all riled up for what? Mobley is a good player, who is in a much better situation than Jalen. Mobley here would not have looked as special because this whole squad is bad and just not constructed well enough to compliment one other. Its basically a glorified AAU squad. Mobley has very solid vets surrounding him and contributing to his growth. He's a very good player who should have a great career, what else do you want me to say?

edit: Did you really say that Mobley is/will be a better player than either Chet or Paolo??? Wow.

I see what you're doing but I was just giving you a summary on how he got to 20 shots. Like you said those plays where it's chaos and someone has to heave a prayer with 2 seconds happens and that's why he took those shots. It could have been Porter who Wood went with the hot potato.
It's funky how you can't say something good about player without getting backlash or negative about a Technical foul without getting back lash. Someone always has to act the fool. As long as he scores 4 more points than shots taken, that's good for me at his young age as shown on the table chart with past rookies.

For all the talk on where the best well to draft player was (Euroleague, College or G league) the thing these 3 guys are struggling with is something that should translate everywhere, shooting.

Agree with most of this but right now Green couldn’t even play 12 minutes a game on an upper tier playoff team if he was going to play those minutes in the same manner he is playing here, though I think he could adjust.

The thing is Mobley might be the best player on a playoff team this year at 20 years old. That’s just crazy.

I said earlier in the thread I was 50/50 between the two at the draft. I liked Mobley’s tape and basketball profile better of the two since Mobley seemed at worst to be a transformational defender who could finish some dunks if nothing else. Where I screwed up is I was really worried about his demeanor/drive, but being a nice and unselfish guy probably shouldn’t be a liability, especially when you watch the collective group we have right now. I liked Green’s drive a lot better as it seemed in the MJ/Kobe mold, but I really hope I wasn’t wrong about that too and that what he’s driving to become doesn’t quite match contributing to winning basketball.

With all this talk of floors and ceilings, I think we're forgetting someone...

Mobley's going to win multiple Dpoy awards barring injuries. Heck, he'll likely make all-defensive team in his rookie year.

It's an absolute shame that we could've had JA (Harden trade) and Mobley. Should've had that and traded Wood at the draft when his value was at an all time high, for a wing or even a young PG if we knew Wall wasn't going to be playing a single minute with us.

Thanks. He's of course between floor and ceiling. All we need is a window to look pass him.

Rookies can't decide any of that.

The Rockets aren't an expansion team in a frozen climate.

Mobley would be misused here as well. This franchise is just terrible right now ladies and gentlemen. From top to bottom.

If the Rockets had shown interest in Mobley from the beginning it might have been a different story. They literally invited Jalen Green first and took him on private jets and fed him free landrys.

Look I'm all about trading Jalen Green for Mobley. I am sure some of y'all would be too. But no Cleveland Cav fan or the organization would entertain that thought at the moment. They'd laugh at us and hang up the phone. It just wouldn't happen. They got the better player out of the draft and they know it!
Of course I also know there is no use crying over spilled milk at this point. I'm still a Rockets fan and will die a Rockets fan. What I need the Rockets to do however is realize, Green is in no shape the man to build this team around. Move him to the bench and let him play the 6th man role. Stop rolling out the red carpet and treating him like a star.

If Paolo/Chet stuff gets moved to the draft board this same fantasy topic should go to the Dish.

No, good players end up looking good.

Sengun is the youngest player on the roster and he's a big man, yet he still looks good when he's on the court.

If Mobley was here, the Rockets would be A LOT better, which means they wouldn't have a shot at a top pick next year, so maybe it's best they drafted a guy to come in and be their worst player if it means they can pick up a franchise quality player in the next draft.

I know people know from my past comments that I would've taken Mobley, but I'm not even close to giving up on Jalen Green. He's 19. The one justification for passing on Mobley for Green was that you felt Green would eventually be a special player, a truly elite scoring talent.

That takes time. Let him feel out the NBA game and develop before calling it.

I will say though, from my interactions on Twitter, there were a ton of Green fans who felt criticizing Mobley justified the pick: He's soft, doesn't truly love the game, high center of gravity, taking a big over a star guard is always a bust, etc

His defensive potential was unicornish. He's going to be a great player. Up to Jalen to be a great player too and I believe he will be.
