At the end, we can add up the votes and list which game CF ranked as the 2010 GOTY (as well as other games that were highly praised). Of course, I'm sure few, if any, of us have actually played every GOTY-worthy game, but that shouldn't dissuade anyone from voting IMO (if you'd like to, you can list some games you didn't get to that you feel you might have really enjoyed). (yes I copied and pasted 99% of this from the 2009 thread) Tough year. Lots of great games, but no definitive "GOTY" for me personally. I did miss out on Red Dead Redemption though, which seems to be getting a lot of praise (didn't really know it was that well-loved when it came out). I did really enjoy Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 2, GoW 3, Civ 5, Darksiders, and more, but each seems to have its fair share of flaws. Then there is stuff like FF13.
Out of the 2010 games I've played significantly, here's how I'd rank them: 1 - Heavy Rain 2 - Gran Turismo 5 3 - Yakuza 3 4 - Final Fantasy XIII Fairly limited exposure to be sure, but to me Heavy Rain represented a new gaming experience, and for that it gets my vote.

1) Red Dead Redemption 2) Uncharted 2 3) Mass Effect 2 4) Call of Duty: Black Ops 5) NCAA Football 11 6) NBA 2K11 I had more fun with Uncharted 2...but Red Dead is a much deeper game, so it takes my #1 spot.

All the other games I played were holdovers from the tail end of 2009. Wanting to play Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood next.

i agree.. i think mass effect 2 and red dead are longer and deeper games but uncharted 2 by far is the most fun. For some reason this game is a blast to play!!

Weak year for games imo 1) Halo: Reach 2) Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (Incredibly unique multiplayer concept, something that has never been done before and it is a blast) 3) Kinect Sports (I was so surprised by this, amazingly accurate, innovative, fun, and addicting) Red Dead, despite its impressive concept and scale was an incredibly boring and unoriginal game. I would like to play Alan Wake, I might pick it up today if I can find it on sale

I just don't play enough games to know. I've only played FF13 & Halo Reach. Neither is the top in its respective series, so I'd hate to consider either a GOTY.

Torchlight (PC) Not to take anything away from Halo Reach, Heavy Rain, or Bad Company 2 as I know they are all incredible games; I just never got around to playing them. Also, some people think I am nuts for ranking Castlevania before GoW3. Both games were absolutely incredible and overall GoW3 is certainly the better game but I personally enjoyed the story in LoS more. Looking forward to 2011.
