Thanks. I just can't stand the slow pace of people feeding me information by talking at me, I'd rather be able to skim through it and focus on things of interest. It's kind of the reason I prefer to get my news off internet articles rather than watching network broadcasts or listening to radio reports like the pre-internet generation does. The only exceptions are things like the Daily Show or Colbert Report, where comedic timing is important.
if jeremy lin can be a threat like this every night...then we have a great future with a harden/lin backcourt, asik upfront, parsons at the 3..and a max level PF
I caught the fever last night. I'm on board with the Lin fans out there. To all those who knew it's okay to be Linsane the minute we signed him: I'm stupid. You're smart. I was wrong. You were right. You're the best. I'm the worst. You're very good-looking. I'm not attractive. To all those who want me to eat crow: No. I won't. I never really said anything about Jeremy Lin. ------- I like this thread. ******** I want to sex mutumbo. &&&&&& Sura Feints and fall into a fofomtable bed and sleeps all night. ^^^^^^ Next time Lin goes off, I hope we win. It would make my excitement feel more credible.
just watched your vid, thanks a lot for your hard work. but dude you sound like a transformer  are you brother of 4x national champion? you can use some of his emotion
I have to echo these thoughts here. If you didn't know any better, and just looked at the comments here, you would think that the Rockets won the game last night. Im happy that Lin got some of his mojo back last night, but I think even Jeremy himself would have given up more than half of his stats last night to get the win instead. He did seem very dissapointed in the post game interview. Who scores more out of Lin and Harden doesn't seem to be the Teams problem now if you really are focused on winning games. Lin and Harden's statiscal accomplishments say nothing if they don't contribute to wins for the team. That needs to be factored first and foremost into the conversation above anything.
Yeah it's pretty meaningless for either player to drop like 35+ points and then we lose. I would rather have Lin at a consistent 18 ppg and Harden 23 ppg together instead of one of them going for 40 and we lose
Once again i need to stress that most people aren't happy that the Rockets lost. At least only dumb people whose opinion deserve to be ignored are happy about this. I personally viewed this game as a confirmation of what i have been stressing for sometime. Lin needs to be utilized more & our offensive system is kind of bad. That is it. My apologies for making you puke dorboro but I have always said that Lin is the better floor general. Put the ball in Lin's hands to create more (harden less) & have Harden play off the ball more. Harden has the skill sets to play off the ball (Lin doesn't) Situate both players on each corner of the wing favouring there dominant hand. Lin went to the FT line 12 times last night & before people were saying that he avoids contacts lol. See what happens when he is used properly he goes to the line in bunches & nails every single FT. Lin hasn't been put in a position to be successful ALL SEAON. And Harden has been carrying way to much of a burden he isn't LBJ the coaches are going to kill James Harden. And frankly I was more happy about McHales comments before the game stressing that Lin & harden need to be used more together to cater to both players strenghts.
Yeah, maybe I just clicked on the wrong page in the thread and sort of said to myself.... Wait... we did lose right?? It looks like the Rockets won some great battle last night or something. -I do have full confidence that both players can learn to play with each other in given time. They are too unselfish of players to fail at that in a 3 year window. We can all debate till we are blue in the face about playmaker vs scorer, etc. I have my own thoughts about that, but the truth of the matter is it doesn't matter... At the root of who both of these guys are on the court, you have two guards who are at their best when they are being aggressive offensively. To your point, yes you are correct that Lin hasn't been put in a position to suceed based on this point alone. He's not a Jason Kidd type of PG, and we are kidding ourselves if we or the coaches think he can be otherwise. I would actually conceed that both players actually make everyone else better when they are in an aggressive scoring attack because it forces the defense to do certain things which can open up everything offensively. Neither of these players are true "floor general" type of players right now, and hopefully will never have to be. They are both in reality scoring guards. Now the trick in the short term is to find ways that they can complement each other. I got some ideas, but its hard to voice that without pissing off one side or and somebody getting defensive. You even have to be careful here when you COMPLEMENT certain players. Hopefully one day the GARM will lighten up a little bit so we can focus on just winning, and just talking basketball.
I think everyone was pretty much saying he needed to be more aggressive. He took 2 shots in a row which I rarely saw and then I was surprised when he took a 3rd shot. I think it was on him because he was trying to play team ball too much when he's better at being more of a scoring pg.
Skyhoop -- I totally understand. In the modern world, much better to get information at your own pace and get what you want when you want. Lihao wrote: just watched your vid, thanks a lot for your hard work. but dude you sound like a transformer are you brother of 4x national champion? you can use some of his emotion Sorry about that. Part of it is I have to be kind of quiet after like 9pm at night because my neighbor is an elderly woman who goes to sleep at around that time. I am the brother of the 4x national champion who is also super emotive. I have a slight speech issue, as well, so sometimes it's harder for me to be more energetic-sounding. But I'll work at it. Don't feel bad. I get the "robot voice" comments all the time. I've had people seriously ask me if the recording was done by MS Sam or other text-to-voice programs. I enjoy making the videos. I covered Lin for most of last year when Linsanity 1.0 was going and I've covered him for every game this year. I love hoops, so it's fun to do.
It is not about Lin being successful. It is about the Rockets being successful. Lin has helped the Rockets be successful and been put in position to make a lot of open threes. He hit them last night. Lin and Harden both need to get better off the ball. Most importantly, the Rockets need time together to form a cohesive offense.
It will give him some confidence which is good, but it is one game. Aaron Brooks in his MIP season was averaging close 20ppg and putting up 30 every couple of games with a season high of 43. Both sides are doing Lin wrong. People shouldn't point the finger when he has a bad stretch and people shouldn't act like he is capable of something like this frequently because it sets the bar unrealistically high for him. He is a better than average player who should avg around 15ppg. That is what will probably happen. What he really needs to improve on is directing the offense. His demeanor on the court should be that of a leader, letting the offense flow through him.
My feeling on Lin has been Like his game, up and down.. I was strongly supported Lin when we first pursued him. Then I was patient when he struggled in preseason and into the first 10 games of the season Then the LOFs began pissing me off along with his fluctuating confidence and I wasnt sure he was the answer Fast forward to last night and this is the Jeremy Lin I expected from day one so it doesnt surprise me, turns out that maybe he cant find his groove with Harden but hes going to have to man up and be this aggressive Lin every game. There's no more excuses, keep this up Lin, Harden is selfless, hes not Melo, so assert yourself and become a dynamic backcourt duo. Its been expect from day 1 and now theres no more excuses, lets go Rockets
Lin needs to take a page from Russel Westbrook. Yes, Lin is no WEstbrook but Harden is no Kevin Durant either. OKC wasn't winning jack before Westbrook showed up. Westbrook gets fried every time they lose and he takes a bunch of shots, but OKC is worse off than if he took just 10 shots a game and faded into the background. Harden can still get his and take the ball for late game possessions but no reason why they can't let Lin operate and make plays throughout the games rather than pass it off after crossing halfcourt and planting himself on the 3 pt line.
It is my hope as well that the GARM will lighten up. I agree this place has totally gone to hell to the point that you are hesitant saying certain things because people get to defensive, this applies for players & coaches. Frankly I joined just to talk basketball but at times people focus on player only fans to the point that winning & basketball is barely talked about. To me either you are a good poster, decent poster or ignored/troll. Who you are a fan of is your own business as long as you contribute constructively through insightful posts I am chill. In regards to the backcourt I am frankly happy that we have two players who are capable of making others around them better. The Lakers right now don't have one player like that (he is injured). I have always said that this team needs times together. Lins game last night was amazing ( he played a lot better last night than he ever did in NY) but it really doesn't change my perception of him, neither does his earlier season struggles. He is a young player who is inconsistent, he isn't a star nor is he trash he is young & there really isn't anything wrong with that. Expecting consistent play out of somebody with his little experience is delusional. We both agree that he needs to be put in a better position to be successful but at the same time I can concede that he too needs to learn how to maintain his aggression when playing with Harden when he is also being super aggressive. Parker said it really well prior to the game that, that is what he is really struggling with. But like everything that takes time. Even tony parker to this day still struggles with that aspect of his game. Frankly the coaching of this team leaves a lot to be desired also. Between the offensive system, the substitutions, the player mismanagement, the list goes on. But just like the players need time to figure things out the coaches do as well (although it is frustrating to see them make dumb decisions). It is all a very complex situation to be frank. So many factors at play, most important thing is patience.
Only thing with Melo is, he's so inept running point compared to Harden the point guard is almost forced to make plays on the knicks. That's why Felton has shot the ball like crazy, plus JKidd is terrific at initiating offense it certainly decreases the iso ball possessions. Harden on the other hand is a much better distributor than Melo, but at the same time that decreases the amount of time the ball is in the hands of the point guard.
Oh this is you. I love it. Part of it you are Lin's fan, another part is simple clear english that people like me that english is my second language can fully understand. Great job...thanks.
Thanks for the response. Lin is a Rocket though so his success is the Rockets success. I agree Lin needs to be a better off ball player & the way he can do that is by improving his outside shooting. But he never expected the Harden trade to happen he spent the summer likely working most on his on ball skills with shooting mixed in. From what I have been hearing he has been using the regular season to religiously work on his shooting. Once he is a threat from the perimeter he can play off the ball some. But that doesn't change the fact that he needs the ball in his hands to be effective more so than Harden. Currently, Harden is already a much better player off the ball than Lin but he also can be better at it, I agree with you. Harden is a lethal wing & Lin is lost on the wing, taken Harden off the ball a little wold help the team get more out of both.
