This right here is my problem with shooting too many 3’s. All of those misses lead to rebounds which lead to fast break opportunities. A made shot let’s your defense get setup much better than a missed 3.

The whole premise of Harden iso effectiveness, is that the opposition has only one (max 2) quality perimeter defenders, which makes it easy for Harden to get a favorable matchup. This is true against most teams but the GSW is the worst team to use it against.

4 of the 5 starters (Iggy, Klay, Durant and Draymond with even Looney not being easy pickings) are above average defenders that would severely limit Harden's effectiveness, thus the need to hunt Curry. But this plays into GSW hand, as they can delay the switch as much as possible to run down the shot clock while trying to trick Rockets players to the spacing/positioning they want e.g. the 1v2 on the weakside involves the poorest shooters

The possible counters are for Harden to improve his effectiveness against the other defenders (not likely to happen) and/or for another player (e.g. CP3 or EG) to be able to take advantage of curry effectively. The latter simply requires bringing the ball to whoever Curry is guarding instead of bringing curry to Harden, but also requires Harden to give up the ball which MDA seems not interested in.
