Going home helps; but it may appear the Warriors have figured out Capela: minus 17 (gm 1) and minus 19 (gm 2). *Perhaps still weak from viruses. Those pathetic plus/minus numbers mean a lot when you are dealing with a 4 pt loss (gm 1) and a 6 pt loss (gm 2). Logic says play Capela less. I still haven’t seen my preferred lineup of: Gordon/Harden/House/Tucker/Faried. Play’em 36 mins $ see what happens. I will settle for: Gordon/Rivers/Harden/House/Tucker
Very good point. Having Capela switched out on a guard at the 3 point line is dumb. It didn’t work all year. We stopped doing it. Now we are doing it again against the best team in the league. Capela is too slow. He needs to stay in the paint where he belongs. Otherwise get him out of there and go small. GS likes to abuse Capela.
It’s been a long time since we played fast. I really like the 7seconds offense. We are lucky to be across half court in 7 seconds now. That’s about the point where we isolate and begin the dribble between the legs play.
One last comment. Be less predictable. Don’t switch every time. Switch when it’s to our advantage. Don’t shy away from the midrange shot every time. Shoot it sometimes when it’s open. Don’t walk the ball up the court every time. Push it sometimes. Post up Harden a couple of times. Run Harden through some screens off the ball sometimes. Try some different looks and probe for weakness. Predictability is our biggest weakness. It will open up the plays we really like to use.
Sure its not looking good, but we havent been blown out, even with all of the peripheral stuff going on. I think if there was one thing to really work on it would be boxing out on jumpshots and being more active on loose balls .. hustle points. GS is outworking the Rockets thus far. Im really expecting our bench to bust out big tomorrow. Support players are going to have to earn their paychecks. Need to knock down the open shots, and GAAASSP!! work in some midrange stuff. You need to throw GS off, and faking 3's only to take some 10 footers/floaters will make them have to honor the usual aspects of the offense. Right now they are just blitzing James on the perimeter and shutting down the 3 point line. Green is manning the paint and making it difficult for penetration. 10-15 foot jumpshots will neutralize that gameplan.
Regarding your midrange shots - analytics is great and all, but man, for the playoffs, you gotta throw that crap out the window IMO. Intensity and competition are much better in the playoffs so it’s already difficult enough to get good shots. So take what’s available...even if it is a midrange shot.
I think the Rockets 3 & D offense when players are making their shots makes the team almost unbeatable. Problem for Houston is that they dont have the shooting personnel like Milwaukee to fully take advantage of the philosophy. We have good D guys who were never really known for 3 point shooting and they have tendencies of going on long cold streaks. If we had some proper professional shooters surrounding James this matchup would be looking much different. Im hoping moving forward next year Morey makes a concerted effort to go find that shooting talent. So before going on too long a tangent, Yes .. like Tmac said and many others .. the Rockets have to incorporate that midrange stuff. Run plays into the post, get away from solely shooting the 3 and the drive to the basket. Its not working so you have to shake things up and apart from roster changes modifying your philosophy may be the best thing you can do to catch these guys offguard at least for this next game. Its a must win.
PG Stephen Curry ( injured left hand) force him left, play on his right every play - Chris Paul SG Klay Thompson - Eric Gordon/ Austin Rivers SF Kevin Durant - James Harden/ P.J Tucker/ Danuel House PF Andre Iguodala - James Harden/ P.J Tucker C Draymond Green - Clint Capela (if Clint plays bad pull him) Kenneth Faried must play his energy, toughness is missing I am curious if Gary Clark can play, it is Small Forward matchup
1.Call a timeout immediately when they go on 8-0 run. 2. It's not all the refs fault ignite your players to play better. 3. Stop having everyone stand around
Good luck with finding shooters on minimum contracts. I think James Harden's super max has not kicked in yet. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/houston-rockets/james-harden-6312/
We have to understand that the Warriors defense really understands what we like to do and we need to find ways to neutralize the advantages they have created for themselves
Just attacking the paint. Warriors have NO shot blockers on their team. It's makes no sense that we ain't driving into the paint like mad men and getting fouls on Draymond. We often have shot clock violation because we keep trying to force Curry to guard Cp/Harden and Curry keep retreating back to his man. Clint, has to do something. If Clint going to be on the floor, we have to do something with him. He's a 7 footer getting locked down by Draymond and KD. If hes not going to have any impact on the floor. Play another taller player such as Clark (No SHUMP PLS). Rebounding and Turnovers. We control this. Boxing out Iggy and these random players who keep having these easy rim-run is critical. Bench. House? Hello? Green? Hello? Rivers, I see you. Overall, I have no doubt we can get back into this series. We been playing like crap of late. CP3 needs to hit a three shot and stop turning it over too.
very significant aspect many are overlooking or probably haven't even noticed tbh. that they're spending so much time trying to get the matchup they want and its not happening bc the screening isn't being executed well enough.
I never really noticed they started doing this... well, that just proves we need to get their regulars in foul trouble easy by attacking.
it really should be that we do that if we don't get an early shot - Harden is the reason - we really need to push and run.... DD
You don't need to do that if you push it and get an early shot and not worry about the Curry switch until the last 10 seconds.....push the ball and let it fly on the first open available shot. DD
Yes, for sure you start there, but when you DO get the board, you run. How many times do we get over the line only to wait for Harden and pass it back as he crosses trailing? Screw that, if you have an open shot before the defense is set....TAKE It.. DD
