Dragic, we didn't have a choice during that time. If we did, he'd not be featured. He'd be in the rotation, though. Harden was a star before coming to Houston, he just came off the bench as a sacrifice, and everyone in the league knew that. Also, again, not a foreign player. When I talk basketball with fans of SAS, DAL, whatever, they bring up the point that we don't develop players and it's kind of true. The best examples we have are of players that are already pretty good before coming here. We don't give much of a shot to players who aren't up to par. This may be due to coaching staff, but yeah, Morey was also out there trading them away like crazy.
Morey did not believe in extending players contracts unless they are bona fide stars. He wanted the market to set up their price, a practice that I always found questionable.
The cans are actually really similar so you can stack like three or four high no problem. Mix and match and stack as much as you want! (you ever play wisest wizard?)
Capela was someone they developed here, sure, there aren't many, just 1 or 2 prominent in the last years. House yeah, maybe.
To be fair, which one of the international players we "trashed" turned out to be a good NBA player on another team?
Well, its more like look at what other teams did vs what we do. Dirk, Giannis, Manu, Steven Adams, even Delavedova. I'm not saying Zhou Qi was gonna be Giannis, but he definitely can fit in a rotation somewhere. Motiejunas was a mess of an ordeal too.
Capela stands out as that one guy who stuck. But we traded him and it turned into lol... Trevor Ariza. And I guess Christian Wood? Either way, not ideal at the moment.
Qi is not in any NBA rotation right now. I had high Hope's for him too. But could not even dominate in G League.
Christian Wood at $14M/yr is better than Clint Capela on this team. His skillset fits what we're trying to do much more than Capela at $18M/yr. That trade ended up being a net positive. Also how can you say Qi would fit on a roster when not a single other team has even taken a flyer on him??
How many draft picks are we losing in this whole process to get Christian Wood? How many of the players we drafted are still here? Zhou Qi got only his rookie year to do something and team gave up on him. We did the same to Jeremy Lin and then we offered the guy a starting position on the roster during RFA. Zhou Qi just got extremely unlucky, he couldn't find a place to land to restart it. Felt the same about Gerald Green too, trashed the guy and he came back around. Same with Roco.
Ukraine team is doing a good job in the Eurobasket (second in their Group behind Giannis’ Greece, and ahead of Italy and Croatia) with Sanon as a starter, with 12 points per game
