Juwan is not helping this team in any way. He is contributing nothing on the court offensively or defensively. If the only reason he is on the team is to be a veteren leader, it is not worth keeping him.

Why not just trade for Francis.

Thomas wants expiring contracts/young players with potential on rookie scale deals according to a few rumors out of New York in exchange for Steve, and would like a PG in return.

    No problem................

"Moneyball" has the perfect answer since so many cheap scrubs will be lining the Rockets roster.

Send them cap filler -------> Chuck Hayes, Lonny Baxter (signed at minimum), Ryan Bowen

send them trade for Francis --------> Luther Head, Rafer Alston

send them some other scrub we can find signed for one year like Pat Carroll or whomever (guys like Baxter and Bowen that they can just cut cheap right off)

and send them Deke, since he would be an expriring deal, and could at least help them for one year more than Jerome James.

From a financial perspective it is exactly what Knicks want AND what Rockets want because it frees up a bunch of contracts they probably really don't want.

Also Knicks get Head and Rafer in place of Francis in essence.

Caveat, the Knicks would then turn around and cut Chuck Hayes and Baxter, who could then be immediately re-signed.

All the Rockets then have to do is split the MLE on Spanoulis and Jumaine Jones.......

sign Padgett to a minimum deal, and Lucas III to a minimum deal.

Use part of the big TE to acquire Kelvin Cato

use the last part of the big TE to get Travis Diener.

Baxter can be re-signed to 10 days after the Knicks cut him and be used as a reserve body whenever Yao or Cato went down.

    PG Francis/Diener/Lucas III
    SG Snyder/Spanoulis/Sura
    SF T-Mac/Ju Jones/Novak
    PF Battier/Ju Howard/Padgett/Hayes
    C Yao/Cato

It's 100 percent Moneyball and it's the sure fire way to get that 3rd option.

It would also give the Rockets probably the toughest supporting cast around Yao and T-Mac they could possibly get.

It would UPGRADE the team and be easily done.

Yeah well I wasn't a rookie until some people had the balls to say I was a previously banned member.

Ever since then I have been getting rude remarks, people calling me out, attitude, and was sent to "rookie status."

I asked the admin about this and got nothing but silence.

I really don't care about complaints such as these now after I saw all someone has to do is say you are a previously banned member and it is apparently taken as fact and then you are "ignored" and then "now considered a joke."

The majority of your post doesn't make sense.

For one, you can no longer re-sign traded players who are subsequently cut. There was a provision against that about 1.5 yrs ago I believe.

Additionally, if you say it makes sense by "Moneyball" stats...how in the world does getting Francis on this team make sense under that? And how is it "what the Rockets want" at all?

Who do we trade with to get Cato under part of the TE? He's a FA...unless you think Detroit wants to sign and trade him..

Why would Orlando trade Diener for nothing when they're supposedly pretty high on him and he's a young commodity? They don't have an immediate need for cap flexibility with a TE (nor does Detroit at this point with Cato)

Fascinating and this all will be done how? Why would we want Francis period?

I really don't hate Steve Francis, and actually I'm rooting for the guy, but I'd have a hard time giving up Alston or Head for him to tell you the truth. That is how far he has fallen in my eyes.

Plus, he's just going to eat into our cap space every year till his deal expires.

it doesn't matter that you're not a real 'rookie.' the fact is that you're posting your trade idea in threads where the topic is totally unrelated to what you're posting about.

it matters less that you're a 'rookie' and more that you're making a 'rookie' mistake.

other members won't care to complain about you as long as you don't do anything worth complaining about, namely posting your trade idea all over the BBS.

I like the idea of aquiring Jeffries to play PF. He can be a good complement to Yao because of his versatility and face up game. He is a similar player to Battier in the sense that he can do many things but not outstanding at any one thing. The stats dont really tell the whole story with Jeffries since he has played so many different positions with the Wizards. If the Rox sign him and play him at the 4 he will be able to focus more on Rebounding and low post defense while using his offensive versatility against PFs that dont share his talents.

I've been watching the Jeffries situation closely because I like his versatility and defensive skills, but it looks like will accept that lowball qualifying offer of the Wiz. Had we not picked up Battier, I am sure we would be on him, but they are very similar players in what they would bring to us. Both are long, athletic defenders who can two or three positions on the floor, and whose attitude and effort really make the difference. But Battier clearly is the better shooter and, while I love that Jeffries can play the five in those uptempo games, I am uncertain that we would be happy with his lack of offense.

    Impossible Trade.
Juwan is a JVG favorite player.
Barry is not a JVG system PG.

Rockets has 0 chance to get Gooden/Wilcox since both Cav and Sonics don't want a big contact back.

Howard coming off the bench, assuming he can play that role (I've yet to see it), fine. I don't know if I can handle another season of Juwon as our starting 4. He's at that point where he should come off the damned bench, IMO. When he's one the court, it's like the Rockets are running in quicksand. I'd much rather see Battier as the starter, if we don't aquire a better PF this offseason. Battier out of position, somewhat, will be a big improvement over Howard.

They do not play same position and Rockets is not particularly deep on PF now. Don't see a reason to get rid of JH now for Brent Barry. Brent is 34?

I agree! 0 chance to get Gooden/Wilcox? Maby you 're right and Houston will keep Howard "again" ... for another season! Hopefully we can sign a decent PF on draftnight 2007 (in the 1st round), if we don 't trade the guy! (or was it gay?)

What Rockets needs to do with Juwan is send him to a team that needs in inside/outside scoring skills and/or his stablizing veteran presence in the lockeroom. He's not a bad player, just a bad fit with a team that has Yao at C already.

Maybe the new roster will make him a better fit, but I'm not holing out hope. There have been multiple Juwan trade rumors... it's probably just a matter of waiting for the right offer to come along before the deal is made.

    I've posted this before:
    http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/news/local/states/california/15019524.htm
Atlanta will have a very inexperienced frontcourt consisting of Marvin, Shelden, and Zaza when they lose Harrington. Juwan has three years left on his contract.

Ideally, I'd prefer a less riskier move of JHo for Zaza but in this situation it'd be for Murphy.

Very lengthy scenario (not about Juwan), but

    Francis = $15 million . Forget it
