He can retire all he wants, but until he puts it in NBA retirement formal paper, he isn't officially retired. Vince Carter should do the same, they could go to the HOF together.
(How will Howard fit in Houston?) I think he'll do well. Considering that he had a sub-par year last season because of his back injury. The dude is a freak. There's no doubt about his talent. I think he'll perform well. It's a question of whether he can fit in with their style of play. Will they be the uptempo team of last season or will they slow it down and throw it in the paint. (How much pressure is on Dwight with that fan base?) I think it will be immense pressure. It will be a lot. It won't be as easy as he thinks it will be. Houston is a big city. Major sports town. Leaving the Lakers to play in Houston puts a lot of pressure on you for him to perform and elevate that franchise to championship form. (So you think it's a mistake people believe that him going from the Lakers to Houston, life will be easier for him?) It's not gonna be easy. For him, it will be more relaxing but once they get to playing and things don't go so well, it won't be easy. It's gonna be loud. It's not gonna be quiet. How do you think the Rockets are going to do? Jeremy Lin is still the PG, Chandler Parsons can play, I slept on him, he can play and James Harden is a stud and I love the fact they kept Asik and are talking about Dwight spending time at the PF spot. How do you think they're gonna do? I don't know how that will work with Dwight at PF and Asik at the five. That will be interesting to see but the Rockets will be fighting for that 4-5 spot. They're definitely better with Dwight. He's gonna elevate them on the defensive end. He can play. He's a game changer defensively. I question his offense a little bit. He still needs to get better on his post moves - he's a little bit robotic but working with Hakeem and Kevin, who knows. (All the talk about amnestying Kobe and firing Mike D'Antoni) What goes through your mind when you hear or heard these things about Dwight and how will it impact him and his career going forward? I still can't believe we're talking about Dwight and the Lakers. It's been quite some time. If you're the Lakers, you're one of the premier franchises in NBA history, why would you care if he left? Their feelings are hurt because I don't think it's ever happened to them. My question is, it's not about Dwight. Why did they make the comment that they say give them 2 years and things will be okay. Sounds like they're siding with Dwight on his feelings towards everything he requested. Why would you be like, 'Give us two years and everything will be okay.'? They're basically saying they'll move Kobe or do something with Kobe or move D'Antoni out the way? That's my question. That's the bigger issue.
dont' get me wrong, i'm with you here. i despised him since he burned the bridge with rockets management.

It's time to move on. T-Mac has finally stopped denying the truth and retired from the NBA. We should do the same and stop denying his entire body of work as a Houston Rocket. People in here spewing nonsense like he never took us anywhere...get that ***** out of here! He never earned greatness because of his lack of playoff success, but don't deny what he did for us: Spoiler Do you remember the 2007-2008 season? It was the pure heart of this team that dragged us to 12 wins in a row and pushed harder to 10 more wins without Yao. TMac didn't care enough, right? 55 wins...2nd best defense... How did we do it? Was a supporting staff of BJax, Head, Rafer, Battier, inexperienced Scola and rookie AB + Landry carrying us? GTFO What about the playoffs? And then your starting PG and 2nd option hobbles off the court... How do you respond? 40-10-5 on 50% shooting TMac didn't care enough, right? Meanwhile, some of you who crucify TMac choose to plead ignorance to D12??? Undermanned, outgunned and totally cornered against the Spurs. How did D12 respond? An elimination game ejection? Spoiler Don't get me wrong, I will never forget the BS TMac pulled with us.Things should have been handled differently. Regardless, he deserves to be forgiven. He accepted his one-way ticket and never talked ***** about Htown or the organization after we totally disrespected his return. How quickly some of you forget. He didn't just wear the uniform, the dude gave us some of his best years and fought tooth and nail season after tumultuous season. Watch some highlights from that 07-08 season. Are you going to tell me he didn't embody our fearlessness? our resilience? our heart? T-Mac is a Houston Rocket great
TMAC did a really good job interviewing...made some solid points in regards to the Lakers new reports from Ric Bucher... Once again, think he is a really solid dude, but he really disappointed Houston fans for not getting us to the promise land.
I get the hate for him and all, but who would you put in your Rockets all-time top 10? If you put Yao in there, you have to put Tracy.

it's only fitting he ended his career with STEPHEN A SMITH. that's how he essentially ended his Rockets tenure.
uhh I guess you missed that another former Magic player started his Rockets tenure with A Smith. Duhwight Howard ring a bell? That's saying nothing
Not really. There were reports from everywhere that Dwight was going to the Rockets. There was a build up to this decision with the Rockets as front runners. Stephen A Smith was the only one who reported that Tmac was having season ending surgery, not even the Rockets or Rick Adelman knew. Work on your Rockets history . And apparently your tmac history .
