He might be, I said when we drafted Green, that he and KPJ were the same type of player, a scoring guard....and that we eventually may need to trade one, which is obviously KPJ at this point. DD
They think they're the same type of player but KPJ is actually an elite 3 & D player and secondary ball handler who just doesn't know it yet.
It's what teams are doing nowadays Marcus Smart with Derrick White and now add Brogdon to the mix Steph Curry with Poole Trae Young with JaMounte Murray now Fact of the matter is Steph Curry and Poole works but Steph Curry with Kevin Porter Jr would be off the charts. Poole gets like 3 assists per game. Dray gets about 7 per game......but Curry, Porter, Dray is better.
The Warriors would not in a million years take KPJ over Poole. Nobody would. KPJ is a better defender but contending teams don't want role players who shoot a low % from 2, can't hit FTs, or take care of the ball. And Poole is at 4 assists per game.
If he accepts that role, awesome, right? I guess the org has some leeway here to convince young guys to change for their own good......like KPJ is playing point, but if they get a true point, he might be ok with deferring and playing SF, and backup PG ..... As a RFA, he doesn't have much choice, and if someone else wants him for a role that he desires more, might get expensive. DD
Kpj being the best player on the team in any kind of way is laughable. KPJ was given the reigns and full control of the offense. A lot of players have looked really good on bad teams by being able to essentially do what they wanted. If the offense was run through Sengun instead of Wood and Kpj his numbers would be inflated and he'd probably be a lot more effecient. KPJ needs to be trying to become a really good role player and fit in around the core pieces.
I think most (outside of his crazy fan base) would agree he's got potential to be a good 6th man. If you get his ceiling (Jamal Crawford) that's not bad. You just don't want to pay him He's probably more JR. Smith though
Ughhh another non basketball mind not understanding how important spacing is. 3.8 Ast in the playoffs, sure go ahead and round it up. KPj was 6.2 Ast in reg season. Stay in your bubble.
@AlperenSengun You wandered off. Let's keep talking Sengun. You want Green and Porter to be spot shooters for Sengun and open things up. You seem to admit that. But you don't understand how Sengun doesn't open up things for Green, Porter, JC? Looking up Sengun stats with Euro tournament.....correct me if I'm wrong; but was Sengun 1-8 from 3? 12%.......yeah it's might be a long season again. Hopefully Tate shoots well enough. But under no circumstances am I appeasing Sengun and giving him the keys to the car until he shoots better from 3. No free rides....?get out there and work like the rest of them. Jokic is a threat from 3 and there demands close coverage. Sengun does not.
Of course. I run away, when I see a strong opponent. Not just them. All the team should be stop up shooters. What can I do? Genetic restrictions, you are born smart or not. Euro 3pt line is different than the nba 3 pt line. That is the reason.
have you seen this post of apache? https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/to-extend-kpj-or-not.316622/page-112#post-14248753 He has no limits
