Oh please guys, irregardless of the fact that we won on the t-mac trade, francis is a solid player. Generally beyond the glory segments examine how a person grew up, what obstacles they overcame, etc... I don't know much about Francis's life before the NBA but there must've been something considering they're doing a BTG for him. Speaking of BTG, I just saw the one about the Michigan Fab Five. Man that was a badass team. CWebb, Juwon Howard and Jalen Rose on a college team...
Yep. Apparently, they were playing near a fire station, so they carried him to the station and called an ambulace.
It sounds surreal; I just read it on some site's biography of Francis a LONG time ago. Not sure how credible it was though.
I saw it last night and it was very good, yet kinda sad at the same time. The program pretty much tells SF stories like it is and why he became the player that he is today whome many consider a ball-hog. Talks about his child hood, the death of his mother, the Vancouver incident, the JVG incident and the trade. I really feel for him after watching that show and understand a little more why he do the things that he does. Some of the people interviewed on that show included, JVG,Moochie,Walt Willaims, his 2 brothers, his g/f,Alexander and his past choaches.
Damn! Missed it (I was at Rockets game last night and then got something to eat/drink). I am sure they will replay the segment...
It was a good episode. It basically talked about his struggles growing up in D.C. They also showed his days at Maryland and his rookie season with the Rockets. It brought back a lot of memories and showed why he was the second pick in the draft. His tenure with the rockets didnt work out so well but it reminded me of why I liked him so much.
I watched the second half of it. I thought it was pretty interesting, especially to hear comments from Steve, his agent, Moochie, and Van Gundy. Particularly when asked to describe JVG and Steve's one season together - JVG called it Steve's best season, Steve called it his worst. I think his quote was something like, "You don't just go from 21 points per game to 16 points per game in one season - unless you lost some fingers or something."
It was his best season, deep down inside he knows it, because he made the playoffs. Why is it his worse at the same time? Probably because despite the winning Rocket "fans" still b****ed about him and used his stats against him, something that went against him with them before the playoffs, the old "he has stats but he can't make the playoffs" argument. He's too sensitive sometimes, but with that season he couldn't win with everyone and it has left a bitter sweet memory with him, even though he obviously gained some respect from JVG.
some people are just extremely anal. making the playoffs isn't the end all be all, and steve francis had better seasons in which the Rockets won just as many games those years.
yea...him and Sam Cassell went there.(not at the same time obviously) they have always had a winning basketball program..probably good enough to cxompete in bigger conferences some years. I thought the show was pretty good, it does help you understand why he has done some of the things he has done. As cocky as he acts sometimes, it seems that it is bravado inspired by his need to show that he can compete with players bigger than him and the Vancouver debacle stems from his insecurity in being away from his family. I'll never understand why so many here still hold such hate for the kid...you can say what you want about his play on the court...but he gave it everything he had..he was all heart. He's gone now...we got the better player...you guys need to relax a bit.
Agreed. While Francis had his share of "problems," he is still one of the hardest working players in the league. The guy plays with so much heart and I'll always respect him for that.
you wonder why some people get labeled haters. Here is a great story about a young man who overcame tremendous obstacles to get to where he is, and all you guys can take away from it is a statement about how he felt he had his worst year. Oh, BTW, statistically he did.
I didn't know he lost 35% of his hearing in the right ear after that bout with migraines. I did like how he turned it sort of light by saying "So whenever coach is yelling at me to pass the ball, I turn my right ear towards him." Love the Franchise, would like to see him do well and mature as a player. Maybe his new baby girl can help with that
