Holy crap. I'm no hispanic but a lot of my favorite bands are run by Latinos. Rage, Glassjaw, Atdi, menudo.

DUDE. You are entitled to you opinion and you're opinion is valuable and ... Whatever. GTFO. This is a f**king dream come true. It has nothing to do with the ancient remnants of the 2005 Mars Volta empire or your simple prerogative. This is a new chapter all-together, and all you can do is make a petty point about what has already been chewed and swallowed as basically an ATDI filler? It's like you going to the Obama 2008! thread and bringing up how Clinton was better. Moot. Go listen to In Casino Out and Relationship of Command and then come back and apologize.
Already listened to them. I like ATDI fine, but IMO The Mars Volta is better. You start talking ancient remnants and then bring up albums from 1998 and 2000. I listened to those albums back then and enjoyed them, but not to any scale to which I enjoyed The Mars Volta's albums. Besides this isn't a new chapter it's just a reunion tour.
You can't just let us have one moment? I listened through three insufferable Mars Volta albums, four so-so live performances, and an inundation of their stoner constituent's rambling about how significant they are for 7 or 8 years, and all I had to show for it was one worthy Volta album. I'm entitled to my ATDI touchdown dance and turning off L'Via for one, now two, god forsaken posts.
Actually, I'm only five years older than the lead singer... so that's not so bad. I guess it's just not my style.
This is an ATDI thread so I'll kill the The Mars Volta talk. This one goes out to you Shipwreck! . . . . . . PS. The Mars Volta Rules!!! LOL.
Hahaha, I thought the same thing too! The fact that they are getting back together is shocking because look at where everyone is now. Jim is making country music and Cedric/Omar are making progressive music, it's difficult to imagine them going back to the music they made years ago.
omg, FPSF would be amazing. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YkHLe5TCkoc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> it paved a wave of distance between the syntax error from austin's yellow brick road this is forever ... makes no difference your alphabet is missing letters seventeen, embalmed and caskets lowered into the weather a drizzle, brisk and profound from this texas breath exhaled their relief this is forever march 23rd hushed the wind, the music died if you can't get the best of us now it's cause this is forever
Man the first time I saw at the drive in was at a daytime sxsw show at Emos in Austin in 1999. So few people at the show you could easily walk right up the stage and hold your arms out. They killed of course and were all over the place. Then I saw them when they toured relationship of command with Murder City Devils. That show was insane! Was right at the very frontof the stage!
I hate to be a snob but this is exactly right. I was really into ATDI in HS and earlier, and was pissed off when they broke up. Sparta sucked and I saw Mars Volta in a small venue when they were touring for DeLoused. Frances was OK but everything else has been like MV doing a parody of themselves. Blehhhhh. SERIOUSLY though where are they touring other than Coachella?
I think i'm one of the few people that actually like Sparta better than Mars Volta. Sparta improved with each album Mars Volta... not so much.
i liked sparta more in the end. i thought mars volta started strong and i still like their old stuff, but i preferred sparta more. I prefer atdi most.
Well there you go, at least three people (including me) that like Sparta more than The Mars Volta. I can't wait for Sparta's new album, but of course I'm even more excited to hear something new from ATDI
