Can Spoon hit a medium range jumper? If he can do that, he is MoT and Cato combined and just shorter.

Moochie seemed liked a good guy and wish the best for him but it was time for change. Let's not forget that Mooch was pretty good when he first came here. I remember him hitting big shots and making big plays but somehow he lost his confidence and maybe a change in scenery would help him.

aren't Charlie Ward or Eisley still with the knicks? They aren't the best PG's but at least we could have had a backup for Steve.

Moochie hasn't been playing so great this year or last year, but I always liked the guy. Seemed like a funny, good-hearted guy. I hope he plays better in NY.

Regarding the trade, I think that we really wanted to get rid of Moochie's contract and to also ship out Amaechi. The Knicks really wanted to ship out Weatherspoon. I don't think much was gained or lost for both teams. The Knicks now have 4 PGs. The Rockets now have an undersized backup PF.

Weatherspoon is a servicable back-up PF who can hit the short-range jumper and rebound. Baiscally he is a combination of the best of Cato/Taylor.

He is not Kevin Garnett or even Kurt Thomas but we didn't give much up.

He isn't the answer to all of our problems but it is an upgrade. I predict we will all be singing his praises in a few weeks. If he was a total waste JVG wouldn't have done this -- he know him

That's good. At least in some situations, Rox does not need to play 4 on 5 on offense. Spoon will have the chance to shoot the jumper.

    Now that's funny! :D

I think it is a good move. Weatherspoon has some decent numbers throughout his career (12.7 pts / 7.8 rbs). He can hit an open shot and get a tough rebound. He was just stuck in a bad situation in NY. It could be one of those "needed a change of scenery" things.

    Who would you rather have?

    EG, Moochie vs. Spoon

    Posted on the Knicks bbs...

"moochie automatically becomes their third best player... good move."

Wholly crap! Do they really know what they are getting? If he is their 3rd best player, who is their worst? Is Chuck Nevitt playing for them or something?

I'm thinking in the opposite direction.
3 guard rotation with Francis, Mobley & Jackson.

SF rotation of A. Griffin, Pike & maybe some Spoonman.

What's the diff between Spoon and KT? Did we essentially just trade back for a KT equivalent?

I think it's pretty obvious NY called us for this one. They were already talking in the media about buying out Spoonman's contract. I imagine it went like this:

NY: Hey, I don't suppose you guys would give us anything for Weatherspoon, would ya?

Hou: <laughs> Uh, yeah. We'll give you, um, Moochie and Amechie.

    NY: Sold.

    Hou: Seriously? Sweet.

God bless Isaiah Thomas for taking two completely useless pieces of garbage off of our hands. I thought that the only way to get rid of Meech and Mooch was to waive them like we did EG.

They are only useless when they are with us.

Codell, what's so complicated if you are going to just give NJ EG. We are very fortunate that Dallas or somebody in the West did not pick up EG. I maintain that that roster I listed earlier is a much better team than the gutted pack of cards we have now.

Moochie should have kept his hair.

It was the only thing he had going.
