    Its on Realgm.com

MSG Network: MSG Network in New York has announced that the Knicks have acquired guard Moochie Norris and center John Amaechi from the Houston Rockets in exchange for forward Clarence Weatherspoon. Knicks boss Isiah Thomas has been in discussions to buy out Weatherspoon since taking over from Scott Layden last week.

Motorola 2way pager. It's not a link. I'm trying to verify to make sure this isn't a joke but so far two of my contacts just messaged me.

    TRANSACTIONS
07/18/01: Clarence Weatherspoon signed a 5-year, $27.2 million contract with the Knicks. He was given the entire Middle-Class Exception.

This is according to Realgm. So we get rid of Moochies bad contract for Weatherspoons bad contract. I still think its a good deal. At least Weatherspoon is a big guy.

    Who is our backup pg?

wow this leaves us seriously short in the PG department. I hope there's another deal upcoming to bring in a backup PG.

    Makes some sense.

We get Mooch off the books and away from our team. Weatherspoon will probably be cut or put on IR. He's way over the hill, though he used to have a pretty nice game in the mid-90's. He's listed at 6-7, 270... that's why I suggested he inherit some of the Manboobs attire.

If this is correct, it suggests we'll be getting another PG somehow somewhere.

At least we got rid of Moochie's contract. Two more years left on Weatherspoon's deal.

I figure there HAS to be something upcoming to bring in a backup PG. It doesnt make sense. Weatherspoon doesnt even crack our 8-man rotation much less our roster. Whereas atleast Moochie, as useless as he was provided rest time for Francis.

Would you guys rather have a pg with a bad deal or a power forward with a bad deal? Give me a big guy any day. Weatherspoon only has two years left on his contract after this year.

All in all I think its a pretty okay deal. Weatherspoon can be a decent backup big man. Makes me think another deal is coming soon to get us a better big guy and a pg.

As pathetic as he was, he wasn't the problem with the team this year. Hopefully the big splash is coming up soon.
