I am excited..I just found out! Thanks to ClutchFans! But anyways...yes I am glad that Rockets are being active...even this small little trade.

    John Amaechi was useless anyways.

Moochie..muahahah BYE BYE BYE! GOODBYE! Moochie was a nice guy and Steve and Cat and Mo and Cato might be upset...but whatever..maybe deep down they are happy. I will miss Mooch a bit..but I am glad and I hope this means Mike Wilks gets to start playing! He can't be worse than Moochie! Not even I am as bad as Moochie Norris!

Clarence Weatherspoon..uhh..Houston Knicks! Can he shoot?

    You sure about that?

Coincidentally, Weatherspoon was supposed to be the next Barkley. That never quite panned out for him though.

After watching the game last night I figured it was time to make a move. This isnt a blockbuster, but it is a move hopefully in the right direction. I dont think their done dealing yet, but we'll just have to wait and see.

    Playing devil's advocate here:

Why would Isiah Thomas, a Hall of Fame point guard acquire Moochie, knowing that he's got an anchor of a contract? I sure hope he doesn't see something in Mooch that's worth trading for. As much as I cringed every time Moochie took the court, I'd cringe even more if he actually became a decent PG at some point.

Nah, what am I saying? This is Moochie Norris!! They'll buy out his contract over the summer, if not sooner.

Spoon doesn't meet the trade deadline... if in fact he has to wait 60 days. its feb. 19th.

    SPOON ISN"T GOING ANYWHERE.

However, decent move. If anyone here really thought moochie brought a good aspect to the Rockets.... I dare you to admit it right now......

I think, however, we can expect to pick up a veteren point guard.

    ALSO,

It seems like there is a concensus we need a super-solid PF, but I doubt that will be addressed till the offseason.

    ONE LAST POINT:

hats off to ROCKET RICH, he broke the story....

can't you be traded again in something like the first 2 or 3 days after a trade but after that point is when the 60 day deadline kicks in? so i think spoon could still go.

thank God mooch is gone. he singlehandedly lost us the denver game, and in a mere 13 minutes. i'm sure you're a good guy mooch, i just didn't wanna ever see you play for us again.

I just found out about this. YES!!! No more MOOCHIE!! :D

I am not sure about Wilks being our back up PG though. Who do you think they will bring in (if they do) via trade/ FA?

Poor Mooch! I will miss him even though he sucks.:(

We trade nothing for nothing if no other better trade furthcoming! And Mooch is a close friend of Yao and Steve.Hopefully that trade will not affect the next game against Sixers!

More precisely, Weatherspoon can't be traded in combination with other players until after the season ends. But, if Weatherspoon is the only player being shipped out, he (and part of the TE and/or a pick) can be traded immediately.

Very good post. Isiah has pressured Chaney into making Frank Williams our (Knick) starting PG. With him in the line-up, we are 4-0 and frank is averaging about 14 points and 6 assists. Eisley and Ward, the starters in the Layden era, have had PT slashed, with Ward playing on 13mins last night, and Eisley none. I don't doubt Isiah can spot talent, remember he did pick Tracey McGady at #8 for the Raptors.

So when does the Spoonman suit up for the Rockets?

Francis' playing time will definitely increase and Mobley/JJackson will probably have to help bring the ball up more often even though he's not a PG. Good for them.

Good riddance, I say. Even if Spoon barely plays, we got rid of Moochie and Meech. It's a good deal.

I just refuse to get my hopes up that another deal is coming. When we got manboobs and the exception everyone thought that the splash was on it's way and nothing came up.

I won't be holding my breath. At least, there's one cancer less on the team and the 3 guard abomination won't rear it's ugly head EVER again!

So basically we traded nothing for nothing. How does this make them a better team in the West?

    RESIGN SCALES!
Wilks can't hang as backup PG. You heard it here. At least Scales can shoot better than 38% (unlike Steve).

We start a three guard rotation every game -- Steve, Cat and Jim Jackson. But, even though I was a fan of Moochie's free spirit, I too believe it was time for his departure.

Another undersized player frontcourt player. They can shoot all the hot air up, this will not help this team. When you need that critical 4Q play, he is not going to give it to you. In one month we release a young talented player suited for the west and pick up an old one suited for the east. I find it hard to believe that Moochie and EG could not have been packaged for a better option. I said yesterday that this team in now gutted and this trade does not change that. I do think he will be playing will help. I just felt like someone in there does not know what they are doing. For my money I would still have:

    Ming
    EG
    Posey
    Francis
    Mobley

    Cato
    Taylor
    Nachbar
    Daniels
    Jackson

    Spoon
    Morris
    Hawkins
    Wilks
    Ford
