    Neil Young?

p.s. Great thread, Dan Higgs'. I'll admit a guilty taste for the Eagles, as with Journey, Air Supply and James Taylor, but I know they all suck. Except James Taylor. But I know I'm a big girl for liking him. Also hate the jam bands, including the Dead. They wrote some good songs to be sure, but if they didn't bug the hell out of me by themselves Deadheads surely finished them off. Oh. U2 sucks too.

Also, the negative responses to the first post in this thread ("What about N'Sync? They suck worse...") remind me of the book Bad, by Paul Fussell (who also wrote Class). The book talks about things that are generally agreed to be "bad," but devotes itself to things that are "Bad." He defines the capital B Bad as stuff that people generally think is good but is actually, in most cases, worse than the stuff they agree is bad. I've never listened to DMB for more than a few seconds so I can't speak to their case with any authority, but the bands Dan Higgs' listed seem to fit Fussell's definition.

anyone who choose ColdPlay over Radiohead should be shot.

Coldplay to radiohead is what masturbation is to sex... it will never be as good no matter how hard you try.

The same goes to Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine.

    Bands that DO suck:

Creed: C'mon, they stole pearl jam (another not so good band), and they think they rule, you cannot get any suckier than that!.

Any Ska Band: Ska is boring, boring as hell, if you hear one ska song, you have heard it all.

The Pixies: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING! I dont know why people put them as a ground braking indie band, they are boring, almost as boring as Nirvana.

Well, i can list almost everyband out there, I'm kind of picky when it comes to music, I hate music that is made just to back up vocals (almost every band), lyrics and vocals should only be a back up for music.

So here is a list of bands that I like and why:

Radiohead: OK computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail To The Thief, i dont like the bends nor pablo honey, althought the bends i better in some ways they are britt pop, but Ok Computer to HTTT I'ts just great, weird, wild, and smells kind of funky, just like anal sex.

Slint: This band takes minimalistic music, and makes songs with the most feeling i have heard ever.

My Bloody Valentine: There was a mixture of feelings when i first heard Loveless, in a way i was calmed by the melodic voice of Belinda Butcher, but also i had this troubling feeling, like the one Kevin Shields had while writing the music, this band is so great that doesnt need lyrics to express something, or to make you feel sad, angry, happy or horny, its like classical music but with feedback.

Sonic Youth: A band that rocks with out boring music, as simple as that.

Husker Dü: If you want to thank a band for all the current *****music you should thank husker dü, they inspired almos everyband you hear now days (indirectly mostly), why do i like this band? its hard to put my finger on it, so i wont go into further details.

The Minutemen: When i heard about them i thought they would be something like Hüsker Dü/Black Flag, when i first heard a song i was like, "say whaaaaaaaaaaat¿?, no distortion? maybe its just this song" but it wasnt, then i realized the greatness and powerfulness of The minutemen, you dont need distortion to be punk.

pak0: Your Pixies/Nirvana hate is insane. But you redeemed yourself by bringing up Husker Du. They were awesome. Thanks for reminding me.

Is that Bob Mould's blog? If so, that's wild. If not, I don't know why you sent me there. Either way, thanks.

Had you seen them live you would have a few more descriptives at your disposal such as 'desperation' and 'pain,' as in 'this band is so great that doesnt need lyrics to express something, or to make you feel desperation and pain.'

They were nearly unbearably loud. They invariably went into this shuddering deconstruction during You Made Me Realise that was just brutal. It tended to last around twenty minutes.

Once I saw them on the same bill as Dinosaur, Jr. That probably goes a long way towards explaining why whenever anyone says anything to me I ask, 'What?'

Yeah, quite right. Lots of good stuff there, good links, etc. He's now totally different from the Flying V punk I was familiar with back in, you know, '85 or '86 or whatever, but I think that's what I like about him, there's hope for us all and so on.

Root around and find a recent picture of him. You absolutely would not recognize him.

I agree with someone earlier, this should be titled Least Favorite.

Personally, I can't condemn anybody paying the rent by playing music.
