In my opinion, Bobby Jackson and Steve Francis is unlikely to be traded this offseason. Steve may not be traded at all next season if he makes a major contribution to the team when he returns from his injury, or otherwise he'll end up exactly like Bonzi Well's stay with us and be traded before the trade deadline as an expiring contract. Bobby Jackson however, I think will be traded near the trade deadline where his expiring contract will be very attractive to rebuilding teams. But he's been great playing a backup PG role so playing for half of the season won't be too bad. We will have to trade a bunch of our young talent to a rebuilding team for basically their franchise player, e.g. Kevin Garnett trade. The Battier for Jefferson trade sounds good, but I'm sure they'll go after Carmelo more than they'll go for Battier. We'll have to throw in Bobby Jackson's contract to make the salaries match, which isn't a great prospect either. I wouldn't mind the trade though, since I think we'll do whatever it takes to get that 3rd star, but I think we won't be able to offer enough to entice their interest.
Some you people would really give up rafer and someone else for Hinrich. Wow I would never do that trade straight up Alston for Hinrich. Hinrich has proven nothing in this league. What exactly does he do better than Rafer? Ill wait for an answer...
My offseason wishlist: 1. Athletic Slashing 3, shooting optional (RJ, Joe Alexander, Brandon Rush, Boki Nachbar, Corey Maggette, Ron Artest) 2. Young Backup C preferably athletic, with some semblance of offense but mostly I want shot blocking (Roy Hibbert, Hasheem Thabeet, Kei Igawa, Desagana Diop, Stromile Swift...jk) 3. Backup PG with shooting touch (Eddie House, Sam Casell, Chucky Atkins, Janero Pargo, Chris Duhon, TJ Ford-maybe starter) My Alt. "splash" wishlist: 1. 3rd Scorer (Artest, Miller, Maggette, RJ, VC) 2. Sweet Europlayer (Fran Vasquez, Rudy Fernandez) 3. Starting PG (Ford, Calderon, Gilbert Arenas, Baron Davis) 4. Kobe
Even if the Raptors don't want the 17th pick, they aren't going to give it up for free. There are players who don't pan out but Danny Granger is an example of a very good 17th pick.19.6 points,6.1 rebounds with a.446 FG% plus good defense is nothing to sneeze at.
I agree with this. I think Morey will hold onto Jackson and Francis as the potential for a huge acquisition at the deadline remains out there. Usually by that time the hands of crappy teams are forced, and the prices for stars on those teams plummets like Gasol's. Guys on teams that might think they are competitive but end up not being so could become available. Think Stephen Jackson (7.1M), Josh Howard (9.9M), Marcus Camby (8.0M), Mike Dunleavy (9.0M), Mike Miller (9.0M), Udonis Haslem (6.6M), Richard Jefferson (13.2M), Jamal Crawford (8.6M), Gerald Wallace (8.3M), Hedo Turkoglu (6.4M), Steve Nash (12.2M), Leandro Barbosa (6.1M), TJ Ford (8M), Jason Kapono (5.8M), or Caron Butler (9.0M). Basically any good talent with a non-expiring contract making 5-10 million on a team that is not San Antonio, New Orleans, Boston, LA, or Detroit (the teams that I feel even injuries couldn't decimate and force them to miss the playoffs). The price tags on those trades is lowest at the deadline, so for that reason we should keep "the expiring contracts of Bobby Jackson and Steve Francis". Also IMO: Jermaine O'Neal (21.3M) would probably have been dealt already if it were possible, but his contract is just way too high. Elton Brand has an option for next year (16.4M) that seems out of our price range but he's an expiring so I doubt the Clipps deal him anyways. Michael Redd (15.8M) may be dealt in a pure salary dump deal; actually, I don't see any way Milwaukee gets any cheap talent from anybody for this guy. It would have to be a pure "take this contract off our hands" deal. Hell, maybe they'll deal Yi (2.8M) too haha. even if he plays none he's gotta be worth more than that to any team with a good Asian base.
no sir dont want..would rather have richard jefferson to play along tmac and I would put luther head in the trade instead of bobby
I think any player that the rox get needs to be big or at least avg size to his position, atheletic, multi tool, and tough. I really think word is that this team plays hard, but they're not very tough. That's one of the reason why I've been on the artest bandwagon.
Even though I have had disagreements about Artest I do agree we lack height,athleticism,multi-skilled and tough players.
One player who probably fit that description other than the much-coveted Artest, I'd say is Corey Brewer. This guy is much like Shane Battier. A defense specialist, lots of things he does don't show up on the boxscore. He plays defense really well, and he's got the tools all defenders are valued for. Long arms, footwork, quick, a 6'9 body. He kind of remind me of Tayshaun Prince with versatility and length. I reckon he'd be a great role player and hes only a rookie. His scoring and shooting isn't up to scratch yet, but he is still young and just shot too many jumpers on a very inexperienced Timberwolves team. I'd like to see Morey get Corey Brewer into the team, I believe he'll improve a great deal next season when hes slightly more experienced... Get it done Morey...he's our backup for Battier...Unless we can pickup Batum...
I would like to see Chris Mim backing up Yao, he's wasting away on the Faker's bench. I would like to see him instead of draft Robin Lopez (the sorry twin). I would like to see us combine the 1st and 2nd round to move up to 13 or 15 and grab a stud like Joe Alexander.
We can't afford a backup SF who can't shoot because we don't have the luxury to wait that much.We need a guy who can drive, shoot, defend along with good athleticism and a high IQ.That's going to be very hard to obtain.
Who do you think we can give up that the T-wolves would want in return without giving up our core? Corey Brewer is a nice young talent that is probably a part of Twolves long term plans. I doubt they move him unless they get something really good in return.
I agree, in that I really want us to trade up to get a lottery pick or at least a mid-teen pick, there are so many picks that would be for sale if the right offer is presented. the 25th pick is always someone who won't contribute in his rookie year, and I'd really like us to trade it along with our second rounder to trade up into a higher pick, or in a package for a good veteran. Aaron Brooks hasn't done much this year, although I believe he will be good in the future, getting another player like him won't help our cause the next season at all and is just squandered resources. From the stats tables, Brewer didn't have a season that lived up to his no.7 pick expectations. and IF they draft another nba-ready SF with their 3rd pick this year, wouldn't Brewer be extra to requirements? In that case he should be a bit easier to get. But obviously we won't target him that much, but I would like us to make an offer to Minnesota for him or perhaps...Redd......or some player that we need. Yeah I suppose another defensive-minded player won't be fitting of our urgent needs. However, some extra good defense never hurts does it...the scoring load can be transferred onto our upgraded PG(someone better than Rafer hopefully). Once again, lol, I know I mentioned it already, but I want us to trade up to get one of the lottery picks...future 1st rounders, future 2nd rounders...whatever but we need help now while our core is in their prime!
