Best thing to do is see if we can trade some minor players for draft picks and let Morey do his magic even if they're 2nd rounders.

maybe I will be flamed for this idea....

    Battier, Alston, BJax and Brooks
    or
    Battier, Scola, Alston and BJax

    for

Resigned Baron Davis (and their 1st if we give up Scola)

I would hate to throw Scola into the deal however if we had to I think it'd be worth the risk. I would rather have baron than melo any day of the week.

We need another player back + the first rounder of theirs, for both of your ideas.

Battier and Alston, are already worth B-Diddy.

No way I do that pick. you're destroying the team by doing that and IF Baron doesn't work out and worth the massive price we pay for him we're stuffed for the next 5 years in the 1st round of the playoffs.

    On the other hand:

    Kirk Hinrich
With Chicago likely to take the local star, we've got to offer a team the Bulls can't refuse.

    Rafer Alston 6 mil
    Chuck Hayes 1.5 mil
Luther Head 1 mil -- he is good in the regular season
1st round pick --(someone tell me the cash value pls?)

    for

    Kirk Hinrich

I believe that is a very reasonable offer for a PG who isn't performing on their team.

    Comments on my proposed trade?

If I'm Morey, I don't even know if I want to accept Hinrich for 36 million without losing any desirable talent at all. My proposition to the Bulls is that they can trade Hinrich to us ONLY as a salary dump; so basically they'd take our expirings and nothing else, no cheap talent (Scola, Landry) no blue chips (Battier Alston) and no picks. Just Bobby Jackson, Head, and their pick of Woods or Francis or whatever expiring minimums we have. I dare them to find a better deal elsewhere. I guarantee you our Western Conference competitors won't beat it, 36 million for 4 years is a huge chunk of salary and who else would realistically slot that guy into their starting line-up?

Not San Antonio, New Orleans, Utah, Dallas, Phoenix, or Denver. LA does not look like they need to shake things up in their starting line-up right now with Fisher and Farmar being a decent tandem, and Portland should be set for a while if Rudy Fernandez is the real deal. My bet is there aren't many suitors out there who can sustain taking on Hinrich's contract. It would have to be a salary dump, and no more, for the Bulls.

Salary dump? That'd be even better. I thought that Bulls are or will be in winning now mode and thus dumping salary isn't a big concern. I thought only rebuilding teams want to dump salary, but it seems thats not only the case.

I was leaving Bobby Jackson out so we can use him closer to the trade deadline in a trade with a rebuilding team like Memphis to get Mike Miller or Sacramento to get Artest. As I think a trade with the Bulls will take place close to the draft as they wouldn't want 2 starter PGs on their roster any time in the regular season.

    In that case:

    Rafer
    Jackson
    Woods

    for

    Hinrich

When are teams allowed to make any kind of trade? I know free agency starts July 1st but I'm not sure about trades.

Hopefully we'll be able to do like a Kevin Garnett or a Ray Allen trade, as much as I'd like to do a Gasol trade it won't happen. I know there are some rookies as well as veterans who are sick of being in a losing team all the time and want to come to a championship team, and Rockets is right now one of the best place to go to get playing time as well as contention hopes.

Hope we'll get a good PG and a decent back up center this summer. Then we'll are ready to contend.

    - Trade Shane Battier, Rafer Alston, and Luther Head
    - Receive Kirk Hinrich and Tyrus Thomas

    - Trade Carl Landry, Bobby Jackson, and a first round pick
    - Receive Mike Miller

The 1st trade is unlikely. The 2nd one has a chance of succeeding.

First trade Bjax head and francis for Miller or some other sharp shooter (im sure this is already said im stating what i think we should do)

Next trade the 25th or 26th (not sure what we have) and Batman to NJ for Jefferson

    what do you guys think??

The 25th pick plus Battier isn't going to be enough for Jefferson and neither is the 1st case scenario IMO.

Roy is going nowhere. And IMO we don't want/need a third superstar type player. The chemistry on this team is too good. Just say no to Baron Davis, Brand, Artest, etc.

u might be right but they are rebuilding and i know Batman isn't "young" but he is one of the best defenders and they r gonna get rid of jefferson i have a feeling that maybe if we throw in head or francis or bjax i think we can get him from NJ
