Using the AI rumours and tweaking your trade hooroo: Rockets send: Battier, Alston, Jackson, Hayes to Denver and receive: Iverson, Kleiza Nuggets save $2.4million. Rockets then send Novak to Philadelphia for Jason Smith In total, our salary increases by $3million Iverson/ Brooks/ Francis McGrady/ Barry/ Head Ming/ Smith Scola/ (Landry)/ Dorsey/ Leunen Kleiza/ Greene/ Harris Assuming Landry/ Dorsey/ Leunen are all signed for under $4million (in total) Team salary = $72.86 slightly over the luxury tax - which Les said he would do 'for the right player' is that AI? Weird rumours - let's hope they either happen, or go away!
Another thought comes to mind. If the AI trade is indeed real, then the Detroit rumors make a whole lot more sense for us now. Billups AI Prince Scola Yao Haha, rumors are fun
I can't imagine that this deal would go down, but it would be a gas watching AI play with Tracy and Yao. You instantly put enormous pressure on an opposing team's defense. Sure, AI isn't your typical PG by a long shot and isn't known for his defense (which is not terrible and is sometimes pretty damn good, depending on the matchup), but the opponent's 1 would go nuts trying to stay with him on D. Mac gets more open looks and easy baskets, as does Yao. Might have to trade for a long defensive wing, though, and who else is going to play point? You'd have to have more than AI and Brooks, which would probably set some record for smallest point guards on an NBA team. edit: wanted to add that this is just the kind of player move Les likes... huge publicity for the team and BIG bump in season ticket sales.
1. Trade Battier/Head for Felton/May/2nd round pick -- cut May, he can go back to Charlotte if they want. 2. Sign Felton & Artest to long-term extensions. Artest is a must if we're trading Shane. 3. After getting Landry's contract settled, use the rest of the MLE to give Deke what he wants. Felton/Alston/Brooks Artest/Barry/Francis/ McGrady/Novak(?)/Harris(?) Scola/Landry/Hayes Yao/Deke/Dorsey This trade obviously hurts our depth at SF, but I think it helps us even more at the PG spot.
Rafer Alston and Shane Battier to the Hawks for Acie Law and Zaza Pachulia. I'm not sure if it works out salary-wise, and it almost seems as if the Hawks are getting the better players, but I think it compliments the Rockets roster better.
THE IDEAS THAT KEEP COMING TO MY HEAD ON WHAT TO DO WITH SHANE AND RAFER. OMG I THINK MY HEAD IS GONNA EXPLODE!!!!!!!!!!!
Should we be starting to think of the Hinrich manouvre again? The only thing that worries me with this team is FT shooting - 4 of the starting 5 are sub average! Hinrich is as good a stopper as Alston and better 3pt shooter. Alston/ Battier for Hinrich? Chicago moves a heft contract and clears the path for Rose to start while bringing in a cheaper '2 year backup plan' at the PG spot. They also add Battier to give them some defensive prowess at the 3. It leaves us thin at the 3 spot - and there's not a whole lot left on the market to pick up there...
Battier for Outlaw + Batum + draft rights to Koponen Portland get a $1.33326M TE Novak for TE Bayless, Blake, Rodriguez Roy, Fernandez Battier, Webster, Novak Aldridge, Frye, Diogu Oden, Przybilla, LaFrentz Alston, Brooks, Francis, Koponen McGrady, Barry, Head Artest, Outlaw, Batum Scola, Landry/Harris Yao, Hayes, Deke I'd say stick with the 2010 plan.
I'd rather go for Outlaw and Blake! Blake is a ridiculously good set shooter.... and that's about all we need in this offense now!
I was looking at cutting salary for 08-09 plus adding rookie contracts for 2010 and beyond. Rockets will need them when they sign LeBron
Head + Singletary + Ewing to Blazers for Diogu + draft rights to Koponen Diogu is a fourth option PF on the Blazers who is mostly injured. Will sit behind Aldridge, Frye, and Outlaw. He was salary dumped by the Pacers in the Bayless-Rush trade. Singletary & Ewing are non-guaranteed contracts that simply make the salaries work. (Starting 5) 1.Alston, 2.McGrady, 3.Artest, 4.Scola, 5.Yao (Main rotation) 6.Barry 7.Battier 8.Landry 9.Hayes (Outer rotation) 10.Brooks 11.Deke (Injury cover and projects) 12.Francis 13.Dorsey 14.Koponen 15.Diogu
Keep Battier! I am quite happy with our roster now. The only trade I would still consider doing would be this at mid-season when/if Phoenix is out of contention by then: Successful Trade Scenario Congratulations on a successful trade. Due to Houston and Phoenix being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Phoenix had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
