you can't s&t players using the MLE

detroits over the cap so we can't do s&t.

why not ship luther head to oklahoma? they targetted cj miles who is worse than Luther and much less proven with a 15 mil deal, and with the number of decent wings still in FA dwindling down to only a couple, they would love Luther Head.

    what about?

    Houston Gets

    2009 Spurs 1st round pick

    Oklahoma City Gets:

Luther Head + Steve Novak + Mike Harris

Baqui posted this in another thread and I thought it should probably be discussed here.

    Link to AI rumor

The rumored deal is Allen Iverson for Battier + Alston and expirings.....

I would do this deal.........but we would need to pick up a wing player in the process......because Greene is not ready and we would need a new starter at SG...

By the way it would give us even more cap room this next offseason.....

As Iverson is a bigger expiring contract ....

DD from the link the guy said "AI for a bunch of expiring's, just somebody's opinion"

It appears that this source, if true, is still not sure about the deal yet.

Yea I am actually having fun speculating as well.

If you think about it all the trades lately have been out the blue, nba rumor sites don't get a hold of the trades until the deals are actually finalized. So who knows there might be some truth to this.

Can you imagine AI standing next to Yao?

The Wizards like Caron a LOT.He is the only guy who plays defense for them. He is their "tough juice".

    LT threshold: $71.15M

    Atkins, Carter
    AI, (Smith/RFA), (Weems/Draft)
    Melo, Balkman
    Kmart, Kleiza
    Nene, Hunter, Andersen

    Team salary: $72.93M + JR Smith's contract

    Unrestricted FA: Diawara

AI for Battier + Alston + Jackson + Head
= Denver reduces salary by $2.611M

    Alston, Atkins, Jackson, Carter
    Melo, (Smith/RFA), Head
    Battier, Balkman, (Weems/Draft)
    Kmart, Kleiza
    Nene, Hunter, Andersen

    Team salary: $70.32M + JR Smith's contract
Smith would put them over LT but their salary is still manageable. With several expiring and desirable contracts they can try to salary dump during the season.

    AI, Brooks, Francis
    McGrady, Barry
    (Herrmann), Harris, Greene
    Scola, Dorsey, Novak
    Yao, Hayes, (Deke)
    +Landry/Koponen

Detroit blew around $3.8 of their MLE on Kwame. Rockets can now offer Herrmann more than the Pistons which is around $2M.

Herrmann, Hayes, and Harris all can cover PF.

AI & Francis both can cover SG.

If Landry doesn't re-sign. Buy the draft rights to Koponen from Portland

So Denver, a team that's clearly in salary slashing mode, trades their $22 million expiring contract for our role players/expirings essentially? Yeah, I don't buy that for one second.

Interesting "rumor" since it's a win-win trade for us, though. AI, despite being a gigantic black hole, would fill that elusive third scorer role we've been trying to fill in a one-year-rental type of fashion.

AI's contract creates three opportunities: 1) The deal pays off and we're immediate contenders 2) Deal doesn't work out and use his $22M chip at the trade deadline 3) Deal works/doesn't work out and we let his salary come off the books thus either parting ways or him sticking around to try to win a ring for cheap.

I like the kind of possibilities that creates.

poor defender. would want someone who can also play 4 in case the rockets lose carl which is more likely in this situation.

a backcourt of ai, wright, barry, and tmac is scary on one side of the floor for the wrong reasons. especially with battier gone.

Couldnt they just include Smith in the trade and stay under the cap, while solving our SG problem?

    AI
    Smith
    Tmac
    Scola
    Yao

    Or does something prevent this?
