let's see... first of all, tracy mcgrady should NOT be traded, esp. for billups and hamilton (and i doubt they would want chuck hayes sadly). steve francis for brad miller? okay, i'm a miller somewhat-fan, but we'll see what francis can do. but i def. agree with the last one, and battier should give mike harris some lessons, because that gives an option to trade battier (not saying i want to, but who knows).
FRANCIS FOR BRAD MILLER WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So basically there trading Richard Jefferson and Vince Carter for TMAC? LMAO. You need to rethink your trade. There trying to pair Yi with Lebron. Pick a different player to go along with VC and you might have a deal.
I think you underestimate the clusterf**k that is the Atlanta Hawks' salary cap situation right now after the departure of Josh Childress for Greece. Yes, the Hawks can exceed the salary cap to re-sign Josh Smith; but he will now likely get MORE money from Atlanta than he would have just a few days ago. Atlanta HAS to re-sign him now at all costs. If he takes the qualifying offer and decides to leave next summer as an unrestricted free agent, the fan base will abandon that team. Plus, trading a player like Zaza for a trade exception is not really a viable option right now, since the team only has about 8 players under contract (and again, are OVER the salary cap). If anything, Atlanta will need to make some 1-for-2 trades to add depth to their depleted roster. There is little flexibility for trades as well, since the team currently has no small salaries that it would be willing to trade. I assume that Marvin Williams and Al Horford are untouchable. Of course, so is Joe Johnson. I think the Hawks are stuck either having to dip into their MLE (since they're over the cap counting Josh Smith's cap hold, I think Atlanta does still have its MLE) or just filling the team out with minimum salary guys. There are few other options.
I doubt Marvin Williams is untouchable. Sure, he's improved every year and is still only 22-years-old but I really doubt the Hawks consider him untouchable. There's a player or two like him in every draft. Here's an idea: Mike Bibby (massive expiring contract) + Marvin Williams for a star player. Melo? Boozer? Baron Davis once he quits in LA? Nash if Phoenix decides to throw the towel in & build around Amare?
We're in good shape now that Childress has gone! We offer Head/Hayes for Pachulia and they might just bite! We could probably even squeeze a second round pick out of them? Like you say, they need guys who can contribute, and certainly Head and Hayes can do that.
Personally, I'd rather have Chuck Hayes than Zaza Pachulia. Besides, I just don't think there is anything Pachulia can do for the Rockets that sliding Scola over to C and playing a smaller lineup wouldn't accomplish better.
Rockets and Bobcats, What do ya'll think: Rockets trade McGrady and Scola to the Bobcats for J-Rich and sign-&-trade Okafor. You would have to iron out the details with a player or 2 thrown in, but Okafor is not staying in Charlotte. He leaving ASAP so they would basically be getting T-mac and scola for J-rich. It makes the Rockets a little younger, brings Okafor to his home city and makes the Rockets a much better defensive team. Starting Lineup C Yao PF Okafor SF Battier SG Richardson PD Alston
Richardson is an explosive scorer but he is not in McGrady's class even though Tracy is slowing down. Tracy is our best passer, taking that away will make things very stagnant.JR is even less likely to score in the clutch than McGrady. I saw him very carefully throughout the GS/Dallas playoffs. He deferred not only to Baron but to S.Jackson too. He is more likely to be a 3rd scorer than anything else with some additional defense. Okafor is a superior rebounder than Luis and a good defender but he will be expensive and couldn't get more than 13.8 points on a team like the Bobcats. That won't matter much with a healthy Yao,but if Ming gets injured again we will be left with 2 relatively expensive players as compared to their overall impact. My suggestion would be to add more talent around Yao,McGrady, and Scola.
When Jonathon Feigen was asked about who the Rockets will go for IF they do not get to sign Landry, Feigen mentioned numerous times one interesting fresh name: Ryan Gomes. I think he will be a great addition to us, actually I think he will be our legit 6th man...and he IS better than Luther Head by miles and bounds Hopefully we can divide the MLE between those 2. and work a S&T for Gomes. I think the wolves have a log jam at SF since they want to give Corey Brewer PT and then Gomes, if given something like a 3 mil contract, playing 15 mins per game won't be quite worth it.
I've been wanting us to go after him for awhile, though his game to me is much more of a 3 than 4 to me. I'd love to get him though.
Who cares? That sorry is b*stard is perfect for LA. With his acting defense. He's such a drama queen on the court.
How about addressing backup center? Sean Williams of the Nets can play the 4 as well, which would also address that issue if Landry's agent decides to go somewhere else. Luther Head or Aaron BrooksorSteve Novak for Sean Williams (of the Nets)
Hawks seem to be having trouble re-signing Josh Smith. Its a long shot but can the Rockets offer enough to bring in Smith in a sign and trade. Currently, Atlanta only has about 8 players under contract. Also, I know Smith spends his offseason in houston working with Calvin Murphy on his game... work your magic murph. Something like Shane, BJax, and Novak plus 2 first rounders for Josh Smith (signed to a contract similar to what Brand signed)...its a pipe dream but just throwing it out there
