I kind of like that trade, but I really want to keep Novak.

    Jeff Foster $5.5M
    Head, Hayes, Novak $4.7M
    That's within the 125% +/- 100K range.
    Rockets add $806K

    but gain two roster spots...

...I would rather replace Novak with Harris in the trade, though.

...and you now have a 6.2 million expiring contract to add to Bobby Jackson's 6.1 million one, to get that "player" we need couple months into the season.

I like Hayes and we all know our need for shooting but I would be happy if we could get Foster if this proposed trade is true.Foster is not a shot blocker like Deke but he is a good rebounder who could be a younger and solid backup Center to Yao.

Not sure if there's any truth to this rumor but I've always liked Foster's gritty play. So if he comes our way I'm assuming Deke wouldn't be back?

Not me. I'm not implying it's a junk exchange by any means but I'm not in favor of it.

They've got 16 players under contract. Their situation is similiar to the Rockets.

Then there isn't anyway to get a 3:1 deal done.

Pacers don't need Head or Novak, we don't even have a 2010 2nd rounder. They could only possibly use Hayes as a backup, but that wouldn't be enough to trade away Foster.

I think this would be a great trade. We get our backup C in case Dorsey can't do the job. We don't have to waste part of our MLE on Deke. We get an expiring contract in place of Hayes and Head, who we don't need now or in the future. Foster is a veteran who can still play 20-25 effective minutes, so Yao should be able to get back to 30-32 min. per game. I hope this is true.

He isn't worth that much. The Cavs have signed Gibson.Delonte might get a smaller deal at best IMO.

We're not going to waste or use any part of our MLE on Deke's signing. He'll just sign for the veterans minimum.

Unless we get a larger expiring contract in return I don't see us trading Luther. He is a $2 mil exp that we give significant minutes to in the regular season after all.

btw I'd love a trade like the Jeff Foster/Indiana trade, but don't see it happening. Just checked and they have loads of players on their roster so I'd see them trading to clear roster spots like us.

The point you have made about Head's expiring contract is correct. The Jeff Foster deal is unlikely even if Indiana had room to take Head,Hayes,Novak and a pick.

With posey off the market....what about looking at the teams that wanted him such as Cleveland, Celtics and Detroit....the ones outside of our conference?

Iworked a Battier and SF trade for Tayshuan Prince and it works on Real GM.

    Umm. no.

It wouldn't impact either team. Maybe a little more help for the Rockets... But I believe Battier gets paid less.. So Battier is the better deal.

Chuck Luther and Novak need to be structured into a trade that brings us
    an athletic 3 or 5

My picks would be as follows

    Maurice evans
    Francisco elston
    Rodney Carney
    Jeff FOSTER

cHUCK IS MY BOY BUT HE CAN'T SHOOT FREE THROWS OR PLAY OFFENSE-His strong suit is rebounding and defense and I think we have alot of that already
