http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/chris_mannix/07/15/camby.reax/?eref=sircrc Battier + Scola + filler* for Josh Smith (S&T, BYC)? Detroit sign Landry. Rockets do not match Rockets sign Herrmann. Detroit do not match. Smith averages over 35 mins/game. The sudden need would be to sign a starting SF rather than a backup PF. Alston, Jackson, (Brooks/Francis/Head/Novak= filler options)* McGrady, Barry, Herrmann, Harris, Greene Smith, Dorsey, Yao, Hayes, Deke
Something like this would be nice... Houston Incoming Players Tayshaun Prince Chauncey Billups Michael Redd Detroit Incoming Players Tracy McGrady (Pistons get the player they want without giving up too much) Milwaukee Incoming Players Steve Novak Shane Battier Bobby Jackson (Bucks become major players in next year's FA market) That would give us: Billups, Rafer, Francis, Brooks Redd, Barry, Head Prince, Greene, Harris Scola, Landry, Hayes, Dorsey Yao That would make a light at the C spot but our PFs could do some spot duty. It would be nice to get Deke back but I don't think it's happening this year. We'd have the big 3 scorers in Yao, Billups and Redd. We'd have Prince and other bench players for some D. Scola/Landry for the glue. With Redd and Billups shooting the 3's, that should give Yao more room to work. And we'd still have a decent bench with Rafer, Barry and crew. But again - the 5 spot would be light. We'd still have expiring contracts of Francis and Head that we might be able to help shore up that position later on in the year.
Target Antonio Daniels or Damien Wilkins. We need players that can play both perimeter positions, provide some scoring punch, and defend larger and faster point guards.
I keep hearing about this Tmac for Billups and Tayshaun trade rumor, but why the heck does it make sense? I keep hearing Rockets fans and media saying they would like the trade. But why, sure chauncey is an improvement over Rafer but we don't really have a need for tayshaun. Basically it leaves us with out a 2 guard and still without a legitimate 3rd scorer. Why do we want to do this?
This just made the team that much worse...why would you not let Scola develop into a fully developed player? So you're not happy with a under 3 mil salary who's been performing at the level of a 6-7 mil player?! In my opinion this doesn't make sense for us. Oh and one more thing...STOP WITH THE MCGRADY TO DETROIT TRADES! DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL AND WON'T HAPPEN! Redd couldnt carry his team anywhere but down...and T-Mac carried the team to what? a 10 game winning streak and into the playoffs...can that be said for Carmelo, Iverson, Redd, Pierce(06-07), Shaq(Heat), etc?
Anyone think Delonte West could be worth a look to split minutes with Rafer/occasionaly backup SG. Tough as nails, makes the outside shot, good teammate, moves the ball adequately. Is a RFA and no guarentee to re-sign with the Cavs. would prob only cost us half the MLE.
I agree. For the longest I've been saying that all we need if a veteran PG on our team with a lil more athleticism, size, and somewhat of a scoring threat. Main thing is for our superstars to stay healthy the whole way through. We were just starting to heat up when Yao went out and probably could have made it more than 22.
I threw out this idea much earlier in this thread & thought I'd do it again with the comments by Morey about doing a minor roster management trade. I've also thrown out a variation on the trade as well. Houston sends Head/Novak/Memphis 2nd round pick to Oklahoma City (Seattle) in exchange for Johan Petro. This gives them some outside shooting, while loosening up their center log jam. It gives Houston a solid young backup center while clearing out some of our guard/PF excess. Houston sends Head/Harris to Oklahoma City in exchange for Mouhamed Sene/2nd round pick. This is pretty much the same reasoning as the first trade, only it eases our guard/SF glut. I'd consider these trades to be relatively minor. Although, I'd consider getting Petro a major coup by Morey.
How did Dorsey end up with 6 TOs? Usually players like him don't hold the ball long enough to turn it over.
Still a solid first outing for hDorsey despite the TOs....He's going to be Chuck Hayes version 2.0....
i definitely think that would be worth a look. delonte is a good player with much room for improvement. he is also pretty athletic and has good size.
Now that Milwaukee has Jefferson, I don't think they're aiming to trade Redd, but aren't they going to lift Sessions to starting PG? Brooks Novak (local favorite in Milwaukee thanks to Marquette days) 2009 2nd rounder from Memphis BJax expiring to Milwaukee Bucks Mo Williams to Houston Rockets
Would you guys be willing to entertain the notion of sending Mcgrady to Chicago for a package involving Luol Deng and Kirk Heinrich + whatever else?
There are rumors in Indiana saying that we are trading Head, Novak, Hayes and 2nd round 2010 pick for Jeff Foster. I just have to find the link...
