    Just messing around here.......

Alston + AB for Barbarosa (although he's not great of a shooter he can drive)

    Luther Head for AC Law

    Don't kill me just brainstorming

    Would ya'll trade:

    Rafer Alston 6-2, 13.1 pts., 5.4 ast., 1.50 TO, 3.5 reb.
    Shane Battier 6-8, 9.3 pts., 5.1 reb., 1.0 Stl., 1.1 blk.

    For:

    Leandro Barbosa 6-3, 15.6 pts, 2.6 ast., 1.43 TO, 2.8 reb.
    Raja Bell 6-5, 11.9 pts., 3.7 reb., .7 Stl., .4 blk.

Would that be a fair trade, or is it one sided?

    In other words:

    Alston __6-2, 13.1 pts., 5.4 ast., 1.50 TO, 3.5 reb.
    Barbosa _6-3, 15.6 pts., 2.6 ast., 1.43 TO, 2.8 reb.

    AND

    Shane Battier 6-8, 9.3 pts., 5.1 reb., 1.0 Stl., 1.1 blk.
    Raja Bell ____ 6-5, 11.9 pts., 3.7 reb., .7 Stl., .4 blk.

    I disagree.

Other than taking charges and perhaps a slightly better 3pt%, I would say Childress is better than Battier in just about every other category.

Here's a hypothetical conversation between Bird & Morey I posted in another thread that got buried rather quickly, but didn't get much feedback. I've tweaked the final deal a bit on this repost. Let me know what ya' think.

Here is how it would really go down:

    Morey (Hottoddie):

Hey Larry long time no see, hey I have a great idea for a trade, and I worked the contracts out on ESPN trade checker too so I know the numbers work out.
    Bird: [IMG]
Do I look dumb to you?

    Morey (Hottoddie):
Unfortunately Larry you really don't have a choice. you see, I have your family tied up in my basement.

    Bird:
    .........

    2 days later:

I would like to announce a trade.....

    Bird: move over Isiah.

    while......

    Reporter:
Congrats on wining the championship Daryl, can you tell me how you managed to get so many NBA GM to bend over for you?

    Morey:
I put on my rob and wizard's hat....

Hottodie, awesome post! It sounds like something that would go down between 2 GM's and if that trade went down i would be thrilled!

Duece, I like both of your ideas. Outlaw is getting better and is young and Diougu can allow the Rox to let landry go. Ike played well in minutes before Nellie. I've also been talking about childress for a minute. Like u have stated, he plays the point forward role. He's also a guy I've seen setup the offense for atl. He's very efficient, atheletic, long, and can get better. If the rox can get a guy like this or pull off a trade with portland, I think it really helps this team big time.

Not a bad idea, good player who is underated, and fits our team very well.

He would be a nice fit....

If you are going to trade Battier, I would rather it be for someone like Childress or Outlaw, and NOT for someone like Artest.

I think Childress is an upgrade over all but he's only an OK defender when playing at the 1 because of his height. I don't think they can play him and Barry on the floor together.

I don't know. Its just too risky chemistry wise to give away Battier for someone like Childress who wouldn't be much of an upgrade if any.

Okay not that they need my approval, I really like a lot of the recent trade threads that have been posted ae very good and would fit well with our team. I would love to get a player like Travis Outlaw, Josh Childress, Raymond Felton, or Brandon Rush, I read that even though Morey wants to bring in players by trade, that he more than likely wont do it til about the middle of the season or maybe even close to the trade deadline. Which I really think would be a smart move on our part. Even though it really does feel like we are one player away from title contention I think it'd be the best choice to wait until some team that thinks they are contenders, when they are really pretenders, decides to offload some good talent and make some ridicoulus deal. I know that a lot of people expect to get a Pau Gasol for a pack of sorry players since the LA/MEM deal went through, but it will be unlikely for lightning to srike twice. Everyone hear is really anxious to get back to the finals since the mid 90's and 80's but we really have to be patient and have confidence in Morey's decisions, cause so far his grade is an A+ in bringing in good young talent with all the cards delt to him. He knows what he's doing with our team and I feel like last year was the beggining to a Rockets dynasty with Morey and Adelman at the helm. ;)

I don't think morey will bring tinsley home as he has hostage.Bird will be of no reluctance to accept this trade if you take tinsley away because bird don't want to be along with tinsley any more.
Why not take Grangher ? bird has no other way to go except accept the deal as morey has his family as hostage.

If we were able to make the Outlaw trade, Diogu to me would just be cap space. He is 3M expiring and you could then include him with Bjax for 9M expiring. I would not replace Landry with Diogu. I would keep landry and then move Diogu again.

I don't see any chemistry risk at all. Childress is a model player. He doesn't make waves, he fits in. And he is an upgrade over Battier in many waves as I mentioned above.

We have other chmestry guys on the team now with Barry. And we have tough scrapers like Scola, Hayes and now Dorsey. I think we can move Battier.

Also worth mentioning. Outlaw and Childress are both career 6th men, but look primed to be starters. They are ready to bust out. Childress' ceiling is probably hit but Outlaw looks like he has more room to grow.
