Sean Williams from the Nets? I mean the Nets do have alot of big men and may want to trade away some and Sean is also from Houston so how about we look into him?
How's a player that can dunk a lot going to help the Rockets? We need better outside shooting to open things up in the middle for Yao & T-Mac. Posey does just that, but he can go to the rack when opportunity presents itself. Posey is the better shooter & defender. He can shoot the big shots when needed, but his biggest strength is his defense. He totally disrupts the passing lanes. In my opinion, Posey is a better Battier, in that he won't hesitate to take the shot & can create shots for himself much better than Battier. So, having said all that, I've got another trade idea that could allow us to make a run at Posey. Based upon this article, Oklahoma City (formerly Seattle) might be a trading partner in waiting. http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/53425/20080707/oklahoma_city_will_be_active_in_trade_market/# I've been hoping we'd make a run at getting Petro from Seattle to add more size to our front line. With the talks with Landry dragging on, I'm starting to think letting him go would be a better option so that we can go after another FA like Posey. I don't want to let him go, but if we could use him as leverage in a trade, it might be worth looking at. It's already been pointed out that we can't S&T him using the MLE, but what's to stop us from doing a wink wink deal with Seattle? Don't say the league, because if we do it right, it won't raise any suspicions. Here's what I propose. Assuming his knee checks out, Seattle makes an offer to Landry that he likes. Seattle has an agreement that we won't match the offer if they'll trade us Petro for Francis. Francis has an expiring contract, so they won't get stuck with a bad contract & they get a promising young PF in Landry. Houston gets a 7' center that can play starter minutes if Yao goes down again. We also add more size to our front line that will come in handy during the playoffs. Letting Landry go frees up our MLE & allows us to make a strong push for Posey. Signing Posey would also open up possibilities for trading Battier. I would only trade Battier for a starting quality PG. Without trading Battier, our lineup would look something like this. C: Yao/Petro/Mutombo/Dorsey/Woods PF: Scola/Hayes/Dorsey/Harris SF: Posey/Battier/Greene/Novak SG: T-Mac/Battier/Head PG: Alston/Jackson/Brooks If Barry will sign for the LLE, then it makes trading Battier for a PG much more likely. How about something like this? Trade #1 Houston sends Battier/Harris to Milwaukee. Milwaukee sends Mo Williams to Houston. While I really like Sessions, Mo is the more realistic answer. Add draft picks where necessary. In this scenario we'd release Jackson. Our new lineup would be: C: Yao/Petro/Mutombo/Dorsey PF: Scola/Hayes/Dorsey SF: Posey/Greene/Novak SG: T-Mac/Barry/Head PG: Alston/Williams/Brooks Let Alston & Williams fight it out for the starting role. Trade #2 Houston sends Battier/Head/Harris to Chicago. Chicago sends Hinrich to Houston. Again, add draft picks where necessary & release Jackson. Our new lineup in this case would be: C: Yao/Petro/Mutumbo/Dorsey PF: Scola/Hayes/Dorsey SF: Posey/Greene/Novak SG: T-Mac/Barry/Newley PG: Hinrich/Alston/Brooks Well that's it, I'm done.
Anybody interested in bringing Boki back? He's turned into a good slashing/3pt shooting SF backup (he's been starting but only plays ~20 minutes). According to Boki himself, he's far more interested in years on a contract than he is in the amount of money... Source It looks like he's shooting for a 3-year deal at minimum. He made 2.5 mil last year, and if we sign Landry for about 3 mil of the MLE, then we could turn around and offer Boki the rest (2.9 mil) and a 4 year deal (he just turned 28 over the weekend). Of course I know he has shortcomings, specifically an extreme lack of defense...but I think that he could be an option considering the small amount of money we will likely have to utilize.
Please read my posts...I was never aruing that Boki is the better player than Posey. I specifically singled out his quote where he says that Posey is more athletic and a better finisher than Boki, which is completely false. It is why my whole posts were built around that premise. Of course Posey is the better player, that much should be clear to EVERYONE.
Posey is more athletic and a better finisher then Boki. You can did up some of those off the wall stats but anyone who watched both play knows it's a fact. Boki's even got a bad back. The Rockets have no interest in him regardless so it's better to agree to disagree
There is no way we will release Jackson. His 6.1 million expiring contract is going to be huge at the trade deadline.
Question: Its Tuesday already...isnt this the day where the league moratorium is lifted? How come I haven't seen any news reports regarding formal signings?
If Phily is looking to clear cap space to sign Brand, how about Rodney Carney for our bigger Trade Exception?: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3477424
Bored and playing around on Real GM, just throwing this idea out there: Hayes for J.J. Redick. Orlando is clearly shopping Redick and they're thin and soft up front with Rashard starting at the four and being backed up by Brian Cook. Hayes could be a nice contrast to those perimeter oriented guys. Between Hayes, Harris & Dorsey we have to trim down the roster. Sure, Redick is a bit of a gamble but I really think despite all his struggles he could be a decent situational player, just like Hayes is. Redick could punish teams when they double Yao and could help ice games with his clutch FT shooting.
I like the idea, but I'm just not sure why Seattle would want Landry when they already have Green, Durant, Sene, Petro, Collison, &Wilcox, and now have now drafted Ibaka, DJ White, and Devon Hardin? On top of that why would the choose to move Petro for money when signing Landry will cost just a much?
Not possible, Twolves are under the salary cap so they could eat the extra 3mil difference in the salary. We are over the cap so we can only do trades where the salaries only differ by 15%-25%.
Rockets have a $2.x million trade exception that would allow them to trade for Carney. The combined non-guaranteed contracts of Harris & Woods would also cover Booth's contract in a trade.
Durant is a SG/SF, Sene & Petro are centers, Collison is their starting center & has been doing it quite well, & they've been shopping Wilcox around. As for the 3 rookies, would you rather go into the season hoping they'll gel right away, or would you rather have the player you traded away for nothing last year come in & do what he's already shown he's capable of doing? As for Green, I have no answer to that one. Perhaps they might be looking to add more proven athleticism to their roster. The bottom line is, I don't have a clue why they'd want to do it, but I sure wish they would.
Aside from the fact that it's against the rules, I don't think teams do "wink-wink" deals like this. Why are we releasing Jackson? He isn't a FA; we wouldn't get any cap relief. He has a guaranteed contract, right?
