WHAT ABOUT: Jackson ( Expiring contract) Head ( Expiring contract) Brooks ( Great future pg) Memphis 2nd rounder For Maggette Knight We get our third scorer and a back up for Alston. They get Brooks, a future great pg and they need that. Also, they could have cap room for future great FA. Also, an early second rounder.
It seems pretty nice but the pistons are trying to package a trade with billups in the thick of it. They dont need another SF and the Landry deal would leave us thin once again at PF.( Harris- 2nd year, Dorsey Rookie, and Woods is a Center.)
having Herrmann as our starting SF, backed up by Greene is a terrifying prospect! And if they're getting killed on D, then who do we bring in? Barry? He'll get posted by most 3s.. Love to get Zaza - but not the rights to Anderson - he'll never come over now that he's signed 3 more years with CSKA. A future second (or 2?) would be in order. I think the Hawks might actually look at that package though - they'd be gaining a bruising, defensive big in Hayes, and a cheap shooter in Head. Zaza doesn't figure to get much playing time there anyway, and they could certainly use some big man help for Horford (Hayes brings that!)
Herrmann's a good defensive player. He doesn't have a whole of NBA games under his belt but he's delivered in limited opportunities. Something about his run in the previous (Bobcats) season reminded of Sura's triple double spree with the Hawks. I just get the feeling he'll work out well. Harris and McGrady would probably be in front of Greene at backing the SF position. There are question marks but it's not too bad I don't think. Andersen's contract has an out-clause giving him the option to leave for NBA in his second and third years so he's bound to Barcelona only for this upcoming season.
I agree on trying to get Herrmann - he'd be great for us... But Andersen IMO would suck in the NBA......I've seen him play about 5 times in person already and he's just not quick or athletic enough to play his style of game in the NBA......Scola's game translates well b/c he can bang and bruise down low all day long.....but Andersen would get tossed around like a 2 day old bagel....
I'm speculating that the Rockets could use him from their stockpiling of soft shooting bigs in Novak, Leunen, Greene, and Lishouk.
BAD NEWS: LOOK LIKE THE SPURS WILL SIGN MAGGETTE. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...ug=aw-spursmaggette070108&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
Two part deal: A)Bobby Jackson, Rafer Alston, 09 1st rounder (Lotto protection) for Andre Miller B)S&T Carl Landry for Willie Green Philly probably declines this, but I love the idea of Andre Miller at the point. His contract also comes off the books next year (10 million), giving the Rockets a lot of cap flexibility. Pretty low risk, high reward, but the Rockets would probably have to sweeten this deal a bit.
Really? Because I wouldn't think Miller is that much better than Alston... I certainly wouldn't EVER trade for a PG who can't shoot 3 pointers - particulalry with this big Chinese guy in the lane, needing spacing
Sign and trade with Miami. Miami=Rafer Alston Houston=Dorrell Wright Miami could be interested in Alston because he is a veteran that has played for them before with a reasonable contract. I'm sure they would want to keep Wright but they could replace him by signing a free agent with their MLE since they will acquire a starter in Alston through trade. Houston receives Wright who is young, athletic, tall and a bit raw but has upside. The money he would be making could be a bit high if he turns out a bust but if he develops he would be under contract for cheap. For me it's not so much trading Rafer as it is turning the team over to Brooks. Rafer's stock is alot higher right now then it was a year ago with his off-season arrests. This year some would say he was our third best player during the winning streak. There are plenty of teams looking for point guards so I think now is a good time to move Rafer and turn to Brooks. When Brooks was drafted The Rockets said the trend around the league is the young quick and speedy point guards ala Paul, Parker, and Ford. Brooks is not as young as other guards and should be more NBA ready than most seeing as he was a college senior. I think it's time to throw him in the fire and see what he can do. Tony Parker was a 19yr old european rookie point guard starter playing with the likes of Robinson and Duncan. Most recently Rajon Rondo handled the pressure of playing with the big three in only his second year and has done well. We would still have Francis and Jackson as backups and trade assets for the trading deadline. I say give Brooks his shot now to see what he can do.
GSW have now lost Baron Davis. If they can't get Arenas. If the Rockets sign Brent Barry... GSW have early bird rights on Kelenna Azuibukie. Azubuike made the minimum so I'm not sure if BYC affects him? http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#73 Francis for Kelenna Azuibuike (S&T) Alston, Jackson, Brooks McGrady, Barry, Head, Battier, Azuibuike, Greene, Novak Scola, Landry, Dorsey, Harris/Woods Yao, Hayes, Deke Head + Hayes for Zaza Pachulia (expiring) + draft rights to David Andersen Alston, Jackson, Brooks McGrady, Barry Battier, Azubuike, Greene, Novak Scola, Landry, Dorsey, Harris/Woods Yao, Zaza, Deke Bucks offer Landry a deal which is accepted. Rockets agree not to match if they trade: Novak for Ramon Sessions + second round draft pick Sessions, Alston, Jackson, Brooks McGrady, Barry Battier, Azubuike, Greene Scola, Harris/Woods, Dorsey Yao, Zaza, Deke
Why would any of these teams want to help out the Rockets so much. They lose on every trade except maybe the Landry one (which I believe is against league rules).
Well since I live in Toronto and ive seen alot of Raptor games why not go for Joey Graham? He can get to the line and is athletic but he may have to improve on jump shot and may have to also improve on his 3s.He can also be a backup at the 2 and the 3 postion and living in Toronto ive been a big fan of the Rockets for along time and maybe this guy can help. Luther Head for Joey Graham?
