Actually unless we include Luther in a package for Artest or someone of Artest's calibre(I mean on-court calibre), I'd like to keep him!!!

Does this sound surprising to any of u that I wouldnt mind keeping Luther?!

The reason is simple: its his contract year!

Even Mike James put up 20ppg on his contract year!

Just watch Luther put up 12-15 ppg on his contract year!

And then we trade him at trade deadline for a nice vet!

oh and dont even take Luther back after we trade him cos he'll be back to his playoffs mode after he gets a meaty contract.

About the same chance of us landing Artest and Vince Carter, not very likely.

Sorry if I sounded like I was singling you out.
I am just a little tired of trying to convince people that you can't just do a combination of Bobby Jackson, Luther Head, and expect to get a all star in return.

I blame the r****ded Memphis GM for this, after that trade everyone assume that expiring contracts+trash can get you any player you want.

Baron Davis just opt out of his contract too, I'll wait for the next guy to start a thread about how we should go do a S&T for him.

Pheonix Suns Trying to get younger

The Pheonix Suns Trying to get younger.

I think the Suns should trade Barbosa and Diaw for Carl Laundry i think this is a good move for both teams. I think the rockets would have some cap issues but the suns will make this trade in a heart beat!! What do you guys think?

Well, if they let Maggette walk they'll have cap space, but if you look at the track record of teams with cap space, it hardly ever gets used. If they take on Head and Jackson, they might actually improve their backcourt (it's probably the worst in the league at the moment) and they can make a trade at the deadline next season. If not, they get the cap space in the offseason anyway. Plus if Maggette walks, one would assume they're going to sign a couple of players anyway to fill out the roster.

All that said, I'm just trying to make a case. It probably wouldn't happen.

That would be a great off-season, but I think Sac-town will get better offers for Artest. Worth a try though. What if they asked for Scola and other contract fillers instead. Would you do it? I would.

Even if they would do it, it wouldn't work salary wise. When you re-sign Landry he becomes a BYC player and you can only use his last salary in trade calculations. We would be getting way too much contract money back. You could throw in expirings and then I would do it in a second, but I don't think Phoenix would take it.

Since we can't do a sign and trade with Landry (base year problems), perhaps we could "allow" Indiana to sign Carl Landry without opposition in exchange for a trade of Shawn Williams for Luther Head's contract that has a team option but otherwise expires at the end of this coming season. It works on the trade checker.

Shawn Williams is a 6-9, 225 lb. SF with a lot of skills. His maturity is lacking, but that would give us a lot more depth at the wing, especially if we are not picking up Gerald Green (which is a huge mistake, D.M.).

    B-Jax/Brooks for Jason Terry?

Terry has a lengthy contract and with Kidd manning the point 40 MPG do they really need a pricey backup or undersized two like Terry? They get an expiring contract and young piece like Brooks to hang onto.

    Comments?

Can someone tell me where this rumor came from??? I saw it on another forum and thought I'd post even with no link:

The Houston Rockets are set to offer restricted free agent guard Sasha Vujacic a five-year contract that could be worth around US$30-million, according to an insider report Monday. The Lakers will have 1 week to match the offer once Vujacic signs the offer sheet.

No way were doing that....I hope.

Impossible unless we're giving up on resigning Landry. Very doubtful.
