I think if we could get Deng for Batty and afford the salary then we'd have to do it. It's not even close.
While I am basically for any trade that sends Rafer anywhere, what do the Rockets get in return? I have never heard of these guys.
Oh, you mean "our" Othella Harrington! A 12 year veteran! I really don't know the other guys. The proposal doesn't blow me away.
If getting Artest (or any other 3RD scorer) takes giving up Battier, I would rather do this trade, if Clippers were willing.
we need to get Ron Artest at any reasonable price!!! Why do we still need Shane when we get Artest? As much as I would love to have Shane, Artest is the superior player on the court in terms of talent and ability, and getting Artest makes Shane redundant. The kings have Garcia and Salmons, two starter quality SFs. They have a HUGE whole at point guard, so this is a wonderful opportunity to unload Rafer! Houston Gets: Ron Artest Quincy Douby Sacramento Gets: Rafer Alston Aaron Brooks Chuck Hayes Loren Woods(to be waived) 2009 first rounder Why we would do it: Because we get Artest. Enough said. Move Shane to the bench as sixth man, and watch our defensive powerhouse build its great wall of Houston with arguably the best defense in the league! We just need to get another point guard, certainly not a star PG but, a guard in the mold of Rajon Rondo. I'd looove to have Javaris Crittenton as our starting PG. He has great size and is a great passer and is really athletic. Memphis has literally 5 starter quality Point Guards that they should send one here for free. (just in case they want to dump some more salary). Why they would do it: They currently only has Singlatary as the only PG on their roster. They have no point guards at all under contract. Rafer would be a good starter for them, or if they want Bobby Jackson because of his expiring contract we can also send him. They're high on Aaron Brooks and so are we, but we need to get Artest so we have to pay a certain price. They get a starter back as well as a promising young PG.
^^^ we can add Luther Head into it too. the Kings aren't too deep at SG spot but they are really stacked at PF.
Head (expiring) + Hayes for Zaza Pachulia (expiring) + draft rights to David Andersen This is would be a future looking move. The Rockets could even throw in Loren Woods or Mike Harris's minimum contract/s. Mike deserves to stay in the NBA. The Hawks salary conscious ways might be the opportunity for him to do so. Why would the Hawks do this deal? 1) I don't think they're interested in Andersen. 2) If the Hawks re-sign Josh Smith to the max (c. $13.5M) and Josh Childress to around $6M. They're possibly close to or even over LT. So with this deal they exchange one backup (avg 15mins) for two backups (avg 18mins & 19mins). Basically splitting Zaza's contract for players of the same calibre (Head) or even a player (Hayes) better than Zaza playing the same position. Head & Hayes are primary backups on a playoffs team that have had consecutive 50+ win seasons in the last two years. In Hayes case he is a proven substitute starter if any injuries were to occur. Head's undervalued here but he's still one of the better shooters on this team. Being the 4th best 3P shooter in the league in 2006-07 should perk extra interest. Zaza's minutes have been reduce by around half this season mostly due to the emergence/arrival of Smith, Marvin Williams, and Horford. The Hawks qualified for the playoffs so it definately wasn't a wrong move. Also Zaza and Mike Woodson (Hawk's coach) did not see eye to eye last season. David Andersen is a player the Rockets possibly have an interest in going by their acquisitions of Donte Greene, Steve Novak, Sergei Lishouk, and Maarty Leunen. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=150540 He signed a 3 year contract with Barcelona but has an out-clause to head off to the NBA for the second and third years. For a big he'll be in his prime for the next several years. Rockets currently have Greene & Novak but they're players who might contribute significantly down the road. Andersen is an instant win prize, he's either NBA ready, or a bust. That's the gamble. Bibby, Law, Claxton Johnson, Head, (vacant) Williams, Childress(FA), (vacant) Smith(RFA), Jones, (vacant) Horford, Hayes, (vacant) Alston, Jackson, Brooks McGrady, Francis, Battier, Greene, Novak, Harris(non-guaranteed) Scola, Landry, Dorsey Yao, Zaza, Deke, Woods(non-guaranteed)
Just as I was stating. Get Artest if it doesn't cost you Battier. If you lose Battier in Artest deal we are still in the same boat without a backup wing man and are putting all of our chips in Francis and Donte Green to backup TMAC and Artset, especially when TMAC misses time. If I knew that we could sign Peitris or Posey only then is Battier expendable.
It seems new jersey has a ton of bigs after their draft and trade. Lopez,Anderson,Yi, Williams,Swift,Boone. Anyway we could trade for Sean Williams or Josh Boone? Would anyone of Head,Novak, Hayes or draft picks or some combination get it done?
Just read that Maggete would love to go back to Orlando for 5yr 40mil. If that were to happen do anyone think Turk could be had in a trade. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/basketball/magic/orl-magic3008jun30,0,6678066.story
Short of a big move, I wouldn't mind getting a guy like Steve Blake to replace Alston. The problem is moving Alston. Blake and Brooks would be a fine combo until we can make a bigger move.
