Tmac gets what Tmac wants, no reason why they shouldn't gel right away I like it, but not the Francis part
if they were trying to compete they wouldn't have traded KG to Boston. anyway, Kevin Mchale should get an assist for that. His passing skills are very underrated. Conversely, Kobe also wanted out of LA but the lakers didn't ship him out they focused all resources into surrounding him with good players. Kevin Mchale is out of his mind if he thinks they can make the playoffs in the ultra competitive western conference with the addition of Mike Miller. I think it would make more sense to get expiring contracts from the Houston Rockets , get into full tanking and get a high first round draft pick with the hope of getting a future prospect or trading the pick for a star.
Can't trade a player for 3 months once u get someone in a trade, Mike Miller is going no where for at least 3 months.
I'm sure the Warriors would offer their $12 million trade exception to Minny as soon as they heard any rumor of that trade.
They are trying to compete. Instead of shamelessly tanking towards the end of the season, they were winning games (especially in March) and possibly jeopardizing their draft position. Al Jefferson didn't disappear from the line-up due to a mysterious injury, he played until the last game of the season. I don't think that McHale naively believes that they will make the playoffs with Mike Miller, but I think he does want them to compete of instilling a loser mentality in the team (as exemplified by their refusal to tank). P.S. I don't think the Timberwolves are that hungry for expiring contracts. They have performed a marvelous job at losing the majority of their ridiculous contracts. After this season, their payroll will be $38 million, well below the cap for them to sign a premier free agent and Mike Miller will expire before the Lebron-Wade-Melo chase.
Very good points brought up by both you and pacmania about looking at the situation differently. Coldsweat, I changed the word loser to winner mentality in your post because I feel that is what you meant.
espn trade machine states that we have about 3 mil in trade exception so we could use it to good use if its true http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trademachine can anyone confirm it? thx
The above sounds slightly unrealistic, so perhaps: Chuck Hayes Luther Head our second rounder next year for Javaris Crittenton
Agree that McHale most likely want to keep Mike Miller. He wants to surround Al Jefferson (a.k.a. Kevin's lovechild) and Kevin Love with the right type of guys and have them learn experience some success and learn to play the eright way and develop into mature professionals. That's why over the last few years, he's been shipping out Ricky Davis, Mark Blount, now Antoine Walker, etc. He also talks about liking the trade because Miller, Jason Collins, and Brian Cardinal gives them a great lockerroom. This is not to say that Miller is untouchable, but the Wolves probably arent going to aggressively shop him to dump contract and get picks. Frankly, they can wait til next offseason and still get something just as good for Miller.
Whats with lakers fans and thinking they can get anything now because of the Gasol trade? goto lakersground.com I saw a Vlad Rad + Farmar for Battier thread. And a LO + Walton for T-MAC thread. They actually believe they can pull this **** off.
I dont believe that Miller is on our radar. However, I also dont think he'll be in a Twolves uni by the trade deadline.
I'm not sure if something like this has been proposed, but based upon this article, how about one of these trades? http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/53252/20080628/lee_for_felton_deal_taking_shape/ Trade #1 Houston sends Landry (resigned)/Jackson to Charlotte. Charlotte sends Felton/Othella/Dudley to Houston. I hate giving up Landry, but you have to give to get. Felton gives us the starting PG most of us have wanted. Othella would be released & I believe that Dudley has the potential to develop into a James Posey type of player, in that he can disrupt the passing lanes. His 3pt shooting is terrible, but maybe he can develop it. Trade #2 Houston sends Alston/Hayes/Head/protected #1 pick to Charlotte. Charlotte sends Felton/Othella/Dudley to Houston. Alston gives Charlotte a veteran presence to help out while Augustin is groomed to take over. Hayes gives them a solid PF that works hard & plays solid defense. Head gives them another good shooter off the bench that can also play backup PG minutes.
