Post Draft my 2 Trades Ok this is the move i would consider making post NBA draft..... 1 the big move The Nets want salary cap space and players that may complement a Lebron James. So we send them : 2009 1st round pick Shane Battier Bobby Jackson Nets Send: Vince Carter New Jersey does this for cap room and Battier is a decent piece that will either be more trade bait or a great compliment. Bobby Jackson can be bought out or will come off the books after this season. The move could save the nets around 45-50 million. Carter gets reunited with his cousin T-mac. and we have our own "big 3" to try and win with. We would go as far as we are healthy as the scoring punch of those 3 would be tough to deny. We would do this trade in a heartbeat. I think New Jersey would have to think long and hard. We could add in Head, brooks, and another future 1st if we really felt this was the move to put us over the top. Losing battier on defense would hurt but carters offense has to more than compensate. The biggest question would be who runs the point and that leads me to my second trade.... The Bobcats have been actively shopping Raymond Felton looking for a big man. They drafted DJ Augustine in the draft and Sean May has been an injury prone bust for them. We sign and trade Carl Landry to the Bobcats for Raymond Felton sign and trade: Carl Landry Aaron Brooks Bobcats send: Raymond Felton As we all know Landry has been an underrated beast and would be a strong addition to any team needing front court size. Felton although not the best shooter, will be a solid ball handler and distributer who is just 24 years old and about on par or slightly better than an 32 year old Rafer Alston. The biggest hole we would have is at the PF behind Scola. Roster Yao Mutombo Scola Hayes Dorsey McGrady Greene Novak Carter Head Alston Felton Francis I'd have to say thats a lineup i would go to war with. A younger big 3. and 2 point guards that combined for 27 points 13 assists. and Scola, only injuries would stop this team, although that is a legitamate concern
i would do this in a heart beat, but that's seems like so one sided trade, just like how the lakers got pau gasol from memphis last year....i still want the rockets to pull off some moves to get us 3rd scorer, vince carter or ron artest.. and let tmac and yao play together for one more season.. if nothing goes well .. we can trade tmac and vince by this time in next year... please les alexander... pay some luxury taxes !!! you will get them back if we appear on national tv moreeeeee often
I was bored so I started to think about a 3rd scoring option for the Rockets and I know the Bulls have a guard issue right now, so how about Shane and Bobby for Hughes? Shane is a very good defensive player but he does not provide any real offense by himself. Hughes is very talented offensively and was actually on the 1st defensive team when he was back with the wizards so he is a good defender, maybe not as good as Shane but his scoring helps make up for that. I tried it on the trade machine and it works plus if it doesn't work out he only has two years left.
Are you kidding me? Hughes crap contract and the fact that he had that website named after him and you want him? Cleveland had a tough time getting rid of his garbage contract until they took Ben's equally garbage contract. I can't think anyone wants Hughes.
Since you mention Cleveland, how about getting Szczerbiak ? Wally is still a very good SG and has proven with Seattle he can be great off the bench. Don't know what we have that would interest the Cavs but he's a seasoned veteran with still a good 3-4 years left. Cuttino Mobley would also be a solid back-up at SG but i don't think the Rocket want another return. Also Cat probably doesn't want to be back since he's a starter.
I don't see anything major happening this summer. We won a ton of games with the current albiet injured roster so it's best not to mess with a good thing. I can see us moving Head, Hayes, Jackson, and maybe Alston if the right opportunity came knocking. I know Battier has value but man I love the stability, leadership, and maturity he brings. So upgrade the 2, possible upgrade at the backup 3, pray for good health, and we're all set. There's also something to be said for the same guys having been in RA system another year.
so you are saying instead of getting Vince Carter for shane and bjackson you would rather take larry hughes? wow.
Alston+Jackson+Head for Kirk Hinrich + JamesOn Curry (100K guaranteed/waive) PG: Hinrich, Cassell (LLE), Brooks SG: McGrady, Francis, (Hinrich) SF: Battier, Greene, Harris PF: Scola, Landry, Dorsey, Novak C: Yao, Hayes, Deke Jackson + Brooks + 2009 Memphis pick for Ron Artest PG: Alston, Cassell (LLE), Brooks SG: McGrady, (Artest), Francis SF: Artest, Battier, Greene PF: Scola, Landry, Dorsey, Novak C: Yao, Hayes, Deke Maybe they could even throw this lineup on the floor: McGrady, Artest, Battier, Scola, Yao
now we dont need loren woods $998,398 boddy jackson $6,090,000 or luther head $1,962,378 and aaron brooks $1,045,560 we should packege them up $10,455,560 and cash, send them to sacramento for ron artest $8,450,000 and fransico garcia $ 1,983,453 and together totals up to 10,433,453 id say we would have the deal becasue they get a good back up vetren pg behind udrih and a future pg aaron brooks and a 3pt shooter which they need and a much needed backup center. for the rockets this helps them right away a fantastic 3rd scorer and a defencive player comparable to battier or even better and a 3 pt shooter in garcia who could spread the floor cause of t mac and yao and hit the wide open 3 so what do yall say ???
Those were two separate trade scenarios. Notice Hinrich isn't listed with the PGs in the second scenario? I'm on board for a S-n-T for Artest though. Jackson/AB/Head/Hayes/Future 1st/Memphis 2nd -- Expriing contracts, some young talent, 1st round pick and an early 2nd round pick. That's a very attractive offer if I'm Sacramento. Come on Ronny, come back to Rick!
I think that overall the team is in good shape, especially with how they turned out at the draft. In my opinion, this year should really be focused on upgrading the bench versus re-hauling the starting line-up. The reason being that we won't be able to acquire a D. Williams, Paul, Nash, Kidd, Davis, Parker, etc. kind of point guard in a trade. The only Point Guard on our team who has the talent to perform at their level is *Francis. Even if he were to perform at just 60% of what he used to be, he would be a very significant upgrade to our P.G. position. Our best case (dream) scenario would be for Francis to bounce back this season and stay healthy and for Brooks to evolve and mature enough to stay on the court. If those happen the Rockets should be able to hit 60 wins and have a real chance at a Title. Obviously Head is expendable and at this point should be easily upgraded through free agency. I would like to see the Rockets make a run at picking up Ricky Davis to back up T-Mac and give him some rest. He has the height, scoring, athleticism and passing ability and is not going to sign for much at this point in his career. He is known for being selfish at times, but he can get the job done and without a doubt, is a major upgrade over Luther. I am not sure what the story is with Greene, but if he can play 10 - 12 minutes a game at the backup 3 or if Mike Harris can step in and allow Battier to take a rest from time to time we should be able to keep this team healthy throughout the year. It seems with picking up Dorsey that we may be able to package Hayes in a deal to fill another need but I think that Dorsey should be our main guy to back up Yao. Yao must be paced from here on out. If that means designing plays for Dorsey, do it. Mutombo, more than likely, will not be coming back. Hayes is still a solid situational player and very cheap backup should Landry go down again. Without a doubt, he should be kept. The only reason not to is if we must clear roster space for a significant upgrade in some position. Keep the team moving forward, let them gel in the new system, and substitute as much as possible. If Adelman can keep rotating Francis, McGrady, Battier and Yao in and out of the line-up we should be at full strength come playoff time. 2008-2009 Lineup /STARTERS / BENCH / 3RD STRING P.G. - RAFER ALSTON / BOBBY JACKSON / AARON BROOKS S.G. - TRACY MCGRADY / RICKY DAVIS / STEVE FRANCIS S.F. - SHANE BATTIER / DONTE GREENE / MIKE HARRIS P.F. - LUIS SCOLA / CARL LANDRY / CHUCK HAYES ..C. - YAO MING / JOEY DORSEY * - On the chance that Francis can rehab enough to get into the rotation.
Trade #1 Houston sends Shane Battier and Aaron Brooks for Ron Artest Sacto sends Ron Artest for Channing Frye, Aaron Brooks and Martell Webster. PDX sends Channing Frye and Martell Webster for Shane Battier Trade #2 We send Bobby Jackson, re-signed Carl Landry (around 3.5 million) for Kirk Hinrich. We could possibly add 09 1st. Kind of spectical about Chicago's side, but they get a young promising big in Landry and shed ALOT of salary which is needed considering they're rebuilding around Rose. Free Agency -Kurt Thomas to half the MLE -Resign Gerald Green -Resign Dikembe Mutumbo Depth Chart PG-Kirk Hinrich/Rafer Alston/Steve Francis SG-Tracy McGrady/Steve Francis/Gerald Green SF-Ron Artest/Donte Greene/Steve Novak PF-Luis Scola/Kurt Thomas/Chuck Hayes C-Yao Ming/Dikembe Mutumbo/Joey Dorsey\ Thoughts? I tried to make it realistic but I dunno how well I accomplished that.
Anyone see espn.com lately? Apparently Robert Horry is interested to returning to Houston. Any thoughts? http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3464573
I like these trades. I think one of the best and realistic trades I have seen on here. And the signing of Thomas would be good. I've been saying we should get him since last summer before we knew how Scola and Landry would turn out and was upset when San Antonio got him(during the trade deadline). The only problem I see is we will be depending on Donte Green and Francis to step in and play big minutes if TMac misses games. If Francis comes back to be about 80-85% of the Stevie Franchise, and Green is ready to step in then we will be ok but that is a big "IF". To aoid this I say keep Battier. Let's see if Sacramento will take Jackson, Brooks, a signed Landry(3mil) and '09 1st rd which equals about 10mil for Artest(make sure he signs an extension). Sign Kurt Thomas, then dangle Head and Memphis 2nd rd pick for a young PG Jack(IND), Lowry(MEM). Indiana has too many PG's and Memphis would love to get their pick back. If no go then sign Cassell or Duhon for LLE. Alston/Jack-Lowry-Cassell-Duhon/Francis Tmac/Francis/Head(if not traded for Lowry or Jack) Artest/Battier/Green/Novak Scola/Thomas/Hayes Yao/Deke/Dorsey If TMac misses time Battier can start at SF and Artest can move to SG.
