How about David Lee of the Knicks, rumor has it that D'Antoni wants players who can shoot...Luther Head?

At worst, DLee can be a Landry/Scola replacement (taking Chuck's role and even sliding to the 3 spot). It opens up trade opportunities for Chuck (ie Magic trade) while also allowing us to explore possibly trading Scola/Landry for the right deal (or insurance for Scola's knee).

Of course, they might want to throw in a bad contract (if Luther's value is really that low) like Jerome James...

Seriously, it's kind of pathetic. For all the crow we get for dealing Rudy Gay, at least we got something of value in return for our lottery pick. Battier is at worst what...10x as useful as Redick? Even Chuck's value makes Redick look like a joke and Chuck was by no means ever a lottery pick or anything of the sort.

I heard someone mention trading up to get Michael Redd and that is by far the best option i've heard within this whole thread other than trading up to get either baron davis or an athletic swingman like JR smith. In order to obtain a player of the magnitude of Redd, we'd definitely have to give up talent including landry/scola, head, battier, francis, brooks plus our first round pick this year. Honestly if that's the case I would make this trade asap, Michael Redd, Tmac, Yao, Alston, Scola/Landry would make an awesome starting lineup. We'd have our own big three younger and more athletic than boston and even los angeles. Do it Rockets!

Hey Jorge, we owe you 4 million can we pay 2 million instead?

If the Raptors are looking to move Garbo for sake of just moving him...

    25th pick + Jackson + Head/Hayes for 17th pick + Garbajosa + Graham?

Graham's another player out of favour in Toronto. With the arrival of Moon he's down to Novak minutes and only got on the court for around 30 games. In his first two seasons he played the full regular season and avg around 17 mins each night.

On this board some have suggested trading McGrady to Detroit. Rip would provide scoring, but there would be some worry about the affect R. Wallace would have.

Another rumor I have heard is trading Tracy to the Bucks for Michael Redd and Yi Jianlian. This interest me with this adjustment.

    Houston trade:
    Tracey McGrady
    Chuck Hayes

    Bucks trade:
    Michael Redd
    Yi Jianlian
    Ramon Sessions

This would give us a proven scorer, a true back up center and a very good young point gaurd.

All we would need to do is sign a swing man.

    Any thoughts.

there is no center acquired in your trade. plus, one might be able to acquire Redd for much less (i.e. - Shane Battier +). Though getting Yi and Ramon Sessions is a nice add-on. Sessions played solidly at the end of the season, when he finally got some pt.

One problem Yi wouldn't like being in the shadow of Yao he kinda pointed that out with trying to find a "big market" and pretty much forgotten about Houston, since it's YAO country in the asian communities.

I have a feeling that Sessions will have to be included in any trade with Redd because Redd has a huge contract and Redd has to be added to alleviate the salary/player ratio.

Not trading McGrady! Would people please realise McGrady will never even be considered for trading this summer?! Morey has made that clear.

    Alston, Jackson, Brooks/Francis
    McGrady, Head, Brooks/Francis
    Battier, Harris,
    Scola, Novak,
    Yao, Hayes, Woods
    =c. $70.95M

2008-09 Rockets team salary not including Landry = $70.95M. Estimated LT = $71M.
    Battier + Brooks+ 25th pick for Outlaw + Jack + 13th pick = -$1.41M
    Alston + Jackson + Head for Hinrich + Curry (non guaranteed/waived) = -$2.95M
    In total Rockets save $4.36M.

    Hinrich, Jack, (13th/Westbrook?)
    McGrady, Francis, (vacant)
Outlaw, Harris (non-guranteed), Novak (team option)
    Scola, Landry, Woods (non-guaranteed)
    Yao, Hayes, Deke

No one is going to agree to any of these proposals IMO. Both Portland and Chicago need experience but they aren't going to let their talent go for such little in return.

If Detroit is willing to shake up their rooster and Memphis already signaled trading Miller for Scola how about this:

    Detroit Pistons

    Incoming Players
    Tracy McGrady
    Salary: $18,257,750 Years Remaining: 3
    PTS: 21.6 REB: 5.1 AST: 5.9 PER: 18.50

    25th Pick

Outgoing Players: Rasheed Wallace, Chauncey Billups

    Houston Rockets

    Incoming Players
    Rasheed Wallace
    Salary: $12,540,000 Years Remaining: 2
    PTS: 12.7 REB: 6.6 AST: 1.8 PER: 17.27

    Mike Miller
    Salary: $8,376,194 Years Remaining: 3
    PTS: 16.4 REB: 6.7 AST: 3.4 PER: 16.18

    Chauncey Billups
    Salary: $10,000,000 Years Remaining: 5
    PTS: 17.0 REB: 2.7 AST: 6.8 PER: 23.61

Outgoing Players: Tracy McGrady, Luis Scola, Bobby Jackson, 25th Pick

    Memphis Grizzlies

    Incoming Players
    Luis Scola
    Salary: $2,916,667 Years Remaining: 3
    PTS: 10.3 REB: 6.4 AST: 1.3 PER: 16.18

    Bobby Jackson
    Salary: $5,670,000 Years Remaining: 2
    PTS: 7.7 REB: 2.5 AST: 1.9 PER: 13.57

    Outgoing Players: Mike Miller

I'm not sure Detroit would gamble on Tmac's back, but it's a thought.

    Line up
    Billups,Alston,Brooks
    Miller,Head
    Battier,Novak
    Wallace,Landry,Hayes
    Yao, Dike

The bench would need shoring up but I think the starting line up is vastly superior.

Okay I know this is random, but since I've been demoted to rookie (again), I can't post threads. But I found an interesting looking article on Carl Landry from Draftexpress:

I know I will get massacred for this one:

    Quentin Richardson
    Curry
    1st round 2008 pick

    for

    Tracy McGrady.

Works salary wise. Richardson's contract is same length as McGrady's. Curry's comes off one year later (Lebron, Kobe, and others available).

    We draft:

    Westbrook:

There are many great athletes in this year’s draft, but Russell Westbrook is in an entirely different category in terms of his strength, agility, and body control and because he should be able to play multiple positions. I love D.J. Augustin and Walsh should and will consider him here but he is a high risk pick for the Knicks because he will be a D’Antoni point guard or bust.

While Westbrook is still raw offensively, his play on the defensive end of the floor is simply suffocating. Westbrook can shadow just about any wing 6-7 or under and should be a top-three perimeter defender in the entire NBA almost immediately. He is superbly quick with his lateral movement and is intimidating in the air on-ball and off-ball as a shotblocker. His extremely fast hands will create many deflections and takeaways while turning routine passes and shot attempts into ones of high degrees of difficulty.

He also does the subtle aspects on defense well, such as attempting to prevent the ball from being swung and applying help pressure on the post. He is extremely fast at catching back up to his man on the trail after he has been screened off-ball.

Offensively, Westbrook will make a brilliant dribble move for a 3-pointer, but then he will shoot an airball on a dribble drive from the wing into the lane.

If you rate the 2008 Draft class as pure basketball players, I’m not sure Westbrook would be included in the top-20 at this point in his development, but his feel for the game is so naturally sophisticated. His fundamentals will eventually catch up with his instincts and athleticism, which will transform him into a player who can consistently make the types of plays on both sides of the floor we see only from the very elite.

We then have our backup center and depth at sg/sf. We also have 2010 first rounder and this year's 25th, and all our expirings, Scola, Landry, and Battier as tradebait or as team members.

    Lineup:

    Alston, Brooks, Westbrook
    Richardson, Westbrook
    Battier, Richardson
    Scola, Landry, Hayes
    Yao, Curry

Battier and Scola, and expirings might net you Brand or Artest. Either of these two lineups would be worth taking on Curry's and Richardson's contract.

    Alston, Brooks, Westbrook
    Richardson, Westbrook
    Artest, Richardson
    Landry, Artest, Hayes
    Yao, Curry

    Alston, Brooks
    Westbrook, Head, Richardson
    Richardson, Westbrook
    Brand, Landry, Hayes
    Yao, Curry

Bottom line is that taking on Curry is a gamble but it would provide all kinds of maneuvering room for Morey.

Battier for Maggette is just a lateral move in my opinion.

For those who are saying we will get past the 1st round next season...we almost did that this year without arguably the most dominant player in the team. We'll advance to the 2nd round and beyond next year with exactly the current team if injury doesn't play a big factor like it did this year.

Can't we trade loads of young talent and draft picks to Clippers for Maggette? Boston did that with Kevin Garnett and Maggette is quite far from the value of Kevin Garnett.

Perceived Clippers Needs: PG, SG/SF, Frontline depth

Sign and Trade to Clippers for Corey Maggette:

Aaron Brooks (good talent and potential)
Rafer Alston (addresses their PG needs)/Bobby Jackson if they want his contract)
Luther Head (address their SG depth needs)(luther is kind of decent in the regular season)
    Carl Landry(explosiveness every team loves)
    #25 pick

    thats about 9 m

    Corey Maggette

Maggette shouldn't fetch more than 10 mil on the current market
