Getting Amir Johnson will be easy but Billups can't be obtained without giving up Tracy or Yao IMO,expirings won't be enough.
For all those trade suggestions involving T-Mac being traded, not going to happen. And shouldn't happen. T-Mac is the one player who carried the whole team to the Playoffs without Yao Ming. Trading him won't get us back any where NEAR enough the talent or the experience in return. Say we get Billups and Sheed. this year one is 32 and the other is 34. By the time they pass their prime Yao will still be in his prime. So that means we probably have to start rebuilding after the 2 becomes over 35 with Yao the lone star. Whats the point of picking up other people's unwanted players when a contending team like the Pistons are trying to get rid of the aging duo? We should focus all our expendable resources on another all-star. It shouldn't really involve having to trade T-Mac. Trading one star to get two stars back? Sounds pretty unlikely.
Ron Artest for Battier, Aaron Brooks, and this year's first round pick. If they want expiring contracts, give them expiring contracts instead. If they want Scola or Landry, give them Scola or Landry. Just make sure Artest signs an extension. The Rockets become instant contenders with him on the team.
I think most of the bbs really want to get Artest too. so I agree in you saying we need to get Artest. however, I think he won't opt out of his current contract. I heard he wrote like a fax or email to the kings saying he wants to stay or something? So therefore the only way we can get him is by trade. I hope the kings realise that the WC is right now and also next few seasons the most competitive conference in NBA history, so there is no point in them trying to contend with all other contenders in the WC.(Clippers and Sonics are the only other noncontending teams next season). With that in mind they'd want young talent and expiring contracts. so they wouldn't want Battier. Hopefully Morey can get Artest this off-season instead of wait until the trade deadline. Just need the Kings to realise that they're not genuine contenders and is better off developing young players straightaway. But is Artest really an all-star? I was thinking along the lines of Elton Brand or Shawn Marion(e.g. Yao-McGrady-All-star vs. Garnett-Pierce-Allen) The other option is to get Ricky Davis in free-agency. My dream summer in free-agency would be to sign Ricky Davis with MLE and sign Carl Landry with LLE!
I whole heartidly agree with getting artest... I think we need to trade anyone not named Yao or McGrady for a solid scorer who can put points on the board that other teams with think twice about leaving open. Also we need someone who wont be a defensive liability, I think 2 major people the rockets should go after are Baron Davis (if at all possible) or Ron Artest. Either way as long as we still have one of Scola, Landry or Harris to go along with them I think we would be set. Hell its a gamble I would take... I mean how long does Mcgrady have left in him... and lets face it we're not gonna get equal value for him in return.
Lots of rumors of Rip and Rasheed Wallace for Tracy and Skip on the radio (790AM). I always thought Rasheed is the PERFECT fit with Yao... But with the emergence of Scola/Landry and Yao always being injured... I don't know about this, haven't made my mind up. THESE ARE RUMORS, but they are talking on the radio very seriously about it.
Only way I'd do that deal is if they threw in Stuckey or at least their 1st rounder. But each time does need some sort of "goose" to get it going. And I guess Detroit would have to get a 5 elsewhere?
I've lost respect for 790 after they hadd Bill "the Rocket guy" Imgram on Monsters of the Midday and said he is a "credible" source
T-Mac and Rafer for Rip / Sheed / a bad 1st round pick ? NO WAY ! But I'll think about it if Dumars add Maxiell in to mix . And I'm wondering why even Detroit wants Rafer while they got Billups and Stuckey on that spot ??
Stuckey has the potential to be better than anyone on that team has ever been. I would rather have him than anyone else on that team.
When no one in the NBA is really interested in trading for Rafer, kind of makes you wonder. Who really wants a PG whose best asset is dribbling down the court and passing off the ball? Seriously, what could this team do with real NBA starters around TMac and Yao?
Seriously, what could this team do with real NBA starters around TMac and Yao? Please get some decent starters this off-season Morey..... What ever it takes...Battier, Picks, Bench players... Maggette Andre Miller I reckon are viable this offseason
Article-Detriot Free Press- Why Billiups and Sheed most likey dealt I can see the rockets try to acquire Billiups. Houston does this because Billiups can hit the three and is a physical player that can finish. His defense is questionable and his contract has three more guaranteed years with around 36 million due. Detroit does this because they get a (home-town) perimeter defender and an expiring bench PG. Battier and Bjax for Billiups and Afflalo?
