something totally random: i think clutch should change the front cover page... we all know that mike miller is not walking through that door...
I know this might be far fetched but is anyone thinking Shaun Livingston?? He seems to be recovering well from recent reports and is only 22, plus if the Clips don't give him at least the 1 yr qualifying offer he'll be a free agent. What do you guys think??
Call utah up and get Morris Almond out of rice that played in the d-league last year. Dropped 50+ twice this guy at 6'6 is an athletic scorer.
You may have been part of this Forum since 2001 but you fall far short of understanding the big man situation, especially the limitations of Yao Ming and how little Mutoumbo has left to be an active player for 82 games. The Rockets need to establish their future back up BIG man now, so in a couple of seasons when the Rockets are going for the Championship and the retired Mutumbo is in Africa, we will have an effective force of Big Men., both making contributions to the team effort.
Got to ween off the Alston teet at some point, and you never know the team might actually get better. SHOCKER ! DD
Exactly. Ignore his post count, but he still hasn't got the logic that Yao playing 35mpg 82 games a season is not going to happen! We need to sign Chris Mihm or a similar big man now to play significant minutes at C, in fact playing more minutes than Yao plays in games that we're expected to win relatively easily. The only way we can have a 100% Yao come playoffs time is if his body gets rest and recovery time. Deke will be good for 10-15min per night but nothing more. We know Deke's heart is there but which 40+ vet can grind it out on an NBA court for more than 10 min? Most of them can't for even a minute! Thats why they've all retired. Yao will have another season-ending injury if he is forced to play 35min+ per game every game. Hence the importantce of getting him a reliable backup(Loren Woods doesn't count). Except Yao doesn't get to party and play Madden like a lot of other NBA players. He's got a national team to carry in the Olympics. It'll be great and interesting to see a Yao Yi frontcourt.
Clips won't let him go for nothing. It'll have to be a S&T. He's had the same injury before except it was his other knee.
I'll be the first to tell you Yao needs to be limited to about 32 mins per. That reason is the main reason why I said a time ago that you can't build around him. I mean shaq, dream, ewing and other big pivots would play 38 mins per like it wasn't nothing and play well without the fear of breaking down their 6 th yr in the league. Now he we are talking about limiting Yao to 24 mins against some of the easy wins is crazy. There are no easy wins. I mean the rox lost to philly twice and guess how many games they finished out of the top spot? That's why I really hope Hibbert is there when the rox are drafting. Many will view it as a waste if he is drafted, but I think the rox need to have the heir to yao ready sooner rather than later. I just don't know how much the rox can depend on yao with all his offseason commitments. I really like yao cause he's a hard worker, but ur body can only take so much. There is a reason why so many nba guys opt not to play in the fiba events. The nba schedule is so grueling that after playong 82 games along with a deep run in the playoffs, most guys are worn out. Take into account Yao's unique size and weight and his risk of injury is elevated. The rox need to prepare themselves for the worse concerning yao.
You know...Obviously you would like to see you're stars play less minutes but it just doesn't work that way, unless you have 3 like San Antonio. He plays 37 minutes a game, its not like he's pulling a lebron or anything. The rockets organization is in big trouble if the guy we're building a team around can only play 6th man minutes.
It'll be interesting to see what they do with him. Even understanding he'll be unrestricted if they don't tender him, $5.8 million is a lot, and I certainly can't see him getting that on the open market. Aside from the fact that, regardless of how "well" his recovery is going, he still doesn't expect to be playing until June, he wasn't really worth that much even before he was injured - he was young, talented, improving and with a ton of potential, but wasn't putting up crazy stats or anything. I'd trade Steve Francis ($2.4 million) or Luther Head ($1.1 million) or both ($3.5 million, though that's a stretch for an injured player like that), but then one would have to assume assuming the Clips wanted him at a reduced rate, they'd just keep him and he'd be happy to sign there...
You are right about that but i'd rather go for someone like baron davis now that he may lose his starting job for golden state. He would definitely give the rockets the explosiveness on the fast break that Rick Adelman richly praises.
These are my suggestions in their respective orders and positions: PG: Gilbert Arenas, Baron Davis, Kirk Hinrich, Von Wafer SG: JR Smith, Morris Almond, Marco Belinelli, Marquis Daniels SF: Josh Childress, Thabo Sefolosha PF: Jason Maxiell, Tim Thomas C: Antonio McDyess I believe we need a third superstar and the position that third superstar would best be would be at the point guard position. I would give up anybody or everybody except Yao and Mac for sure and if possible keep Battier. Anybody else is expendable.
Hopin we can get that aggressive scorer..can we trade for Ben Gordon or Magette? then we could nab CDR on the draft..for a backup C, I would only go for Diop..Lastly, I'm open for trading Battier only for Richard Jefferson..
It's going to be nearly impossible to get Maggette. If the Bulls take Rose and want Scola as an additional PF there might be a small chance of getting Ben Gordon but that's not worth it IMO. Battier for RJ has virtually no chance of success either IMO. CDR probably won't drop down to the 25th,moving up the draft is going to be very costly.Diop probably will cost more than half of the MLE.Landry will probably take up most of it. We are in a tough bind.
did you just compare rafer alston to T.J. Ford.......... -______- i would take ford over alston any day of the century, k thanks.
Miami sends: Marion - has to chose player option Blount - Backup Center. 1st Round Pick - Beasley, Mayo, or Rose Houston sends: McGrady Scola This trade works in Realgm. Miami becomes instant contender in the East, is why Riley would do it. The Rockets will have to find a way to find a filler at SG for a year, but after Marion and any other expirings comes off the books the next year, they will be able to get that 3rd superstar (Rose/Beasley, Yao, FA for Marion). If Chicago takes Rose, we can take Beasley for a starting lineup of: Alston Filler Marion Beasley Yao We then have a really good sub in Battier and a Backup center in Blount. Not as good next year, but very good when Marion comes off the books and with 17M in cap space you can sign a superstar in their prime instead of injury prone T-Mac. If Chicago takes Beasley. We take Rose and have a starting lineup of: Rose Filler Battier Marion Yao Landry, Blount, Alston off the bench. Same scenario. Not as good as now in year one, but 2 legitimate superstars and the money to get a third, 2 years out.
After watching Dumars on NBA TV today , I think he wants to unload Sheed and Billups contracts for exprings and young guns ; Bobby + Carl Landry(4million $ Snt) + Brooks + #25 pick for Chauncey Billups and Amir Johnson
