That's a pretty bad answer. Rafer plays way better than AB recently. We would lose tonight's game if without Rafer.
Man, people are too easy on AB. This kid won't be anything special. I don't see good PG ever shooting this badly. The kid is playing too wild and out of balance and forcing too many shots. His playing style does not create any shots for his teamates. The man just know how to force up shots but he can't create shots for others.
Brooks is playing more than double the minutes per game than he did last season. He's already played about 400 more minutes than all of last season at the midway point. He's clearly hit a wall. He is far better than this. Rafer, on the other hand, is playing as good as he'll ever play. He has almost 10 years of statistics as a pro that show he is a terrible shooter that rarely penetrates and creates for others or gets to the line. You don't magically become a better shooter at this point in your career. You don't magically become a finisher around the basket this late in your career. Brooks is playing as bad as you will ever see while Alston is playing as good as you'll ever see. Rafer has no upside. Brooks is halfway through his sophomore season. He has plenty of room for growth. Have fun on the Rafer bandwagon. I'll be there when you get off. By the way, even with Brooks in a slump and Alston shooting out of his mind, Brooks is still shooting better from the field, better behind the arc and better from the line. He also has a higher efficiency per 48 rating while Rafer has the worst efficiency per 48 rating of any starting PG in the league.
This is why I love Clutchfans. We are united as Rockets fans, but there are little miny fans like Brooks fans and Rafer fans, it's so cool, I don't think any other team has it like this online.
Exactly. Another PG has to be brought in and either Rafer of AB has to sit down. If AB needs to snap out of it soon.
AB has gone from after burner to after burnout. He needs a little Doors "Come On, Baby, Light My Fire." On a more upbeat note, Vonage should be knocking at Von Wonderful's "Show Me the Money!" door
i vaguely recollect he was streaky in college, no (I am honestly not sure)? If he was, I have a feeling he is going to be bouncing both up and down alot. The key is going to be timing. If he is clutch, which i suspect he could very well be, then he's still promising. This latest stretch is a bit worrisome though.
How short are Rockets fans' memories? Rafer has stretches like this EVERY SINGLE SEASON then inevitably returns to his unacceptable norm. If this wasn't true, he'd be making $10 million a year and never would have ended up a Rocket in the first place. I'd love for Rafer to keep up this play. If he could, there would be no question about him. The problem is he's not a rookie or a sophomore where there is room for optimism. Players simply don't improve much at this late stage of their career. We've seen this before. We've seen this every season he's been here. In a week or two, the frustration will return. I wish it wouldn't but it's inevitable just like Kenyon Martin' tech the other night after he started getting riled up.
Brooks is struggling right now. His confidence seems to be gone. You can tell from his release he's not confident right now. On the other hand, rafer is on one of his 25 game hot streaks. That's him, 25 games of very, very good shooting and 60 games of scrub ball.
I concur with you but Brooks' struggles are extremely worrying because we all know how quickly Rafer can go down.
