Hey now, he was the answer at one time, but Rafer started playing better and AB hit the rookie wall, but FYI...this winning streak was started with AB as the primary backup PG.... AB can still be the answer, and honestly tonight, BJax and his slowness afoot got seriously exposed....but I still like that trade... And I AM A GURU......... DD
Ah, the guru knew...sometimes it just takes a little time and trust my friends. LOL - just having a little fun.......if you doubted Brooks you should be ashamed....... DD
If Guru is the definition of a knee jerk common fan who overrates his/her opinion, then yeah the OP is a Guru...
The OP does indeed have knee jerk threads, but if you follow carefully the OP always sees talent before the common fan such as yourself. All kidding aside I have wanted a 2nd penetrating player on the floor for years...glad the Rockets have finally found one....it helps EVERYONE. DD
You think AB is a pile of dung? Really? Wow. I think the main difference is in whether people think they are playing well now, or will develop into something to help the team by getting some minutes. Too many people look at a rookie and see the mistakes but don't see the positives...or ignore them because the mistakes outnumber the positives. Usually that is just growing pains, where the positives will get more frequent and the mistakes will become fewer. So, you have to extrapolate out and see whether you think a player will help in the future. It was clear to me that Aaron Brooks had something special that this team needed.... a good penetrating player..... I have been harping on that for 4 or more years that this team needed a 2nd penetrating player....finally we get one, and everyone can see what the heck I have been babbling about. DD
Funny, I was just having fun, because so many people hammered AB and the thought of him as an NBA player. It is just funny to me to see people talking so badly about a rookie, like players never develop or something. Feel free to bring up my Dan Langhi lovefest as a counter to my guru status.....he blew chunks..... Most of the time though...I get it right....though the jury is still out on JJ. DD
Well if you actually look at all the positions in the NBA, the pg position is the hardest position to learn. It usually takes a player 3 - 4 years to get that position down. I am impressed with his playmaking decisions; although he's making some mistakes which is too be expected, but his positives are out weighing his negatives. It also helps to have a vetern like Barry back there to help you and most people either don't know or have forgotten that Barry was a pg in this league for a long time. So we don't lose much if we lose Rafer, we can start Brooks and use Barry as the backup. T_Man
Man you're pretty easy to get riled up into talking a whole lot of nothing. No man, I was just talking about your general habit of seeing things in crap players that they don't have. Brooks, you're going to break your hand patting yourself on the back when you go back and look you'll realize there was alot of us pulling for him and wanting him to succeed. NBA scout, you are not. Don't quit your day job. Now dung recycler, maybe...
Thank you, thank you, thank you, I was hoping someone would finally bring this topic up. Well it's been a while but here we go. I don't know how many times I've told my friends, family, even my barber that AB is the answer to our problems at PG. He is the perfect PG to play the system Rick Adelman is trying to implement, he can drive at will with that lightning fast first step of his. And when he has his defenders on his heels waiting for him to take it to the whole, he can pull up for that sweet J. I went so far as gauranteeing that AB would start by the end of the season. Well that is if Adelman is smart... I mean think about it, with AB starting we won't have to worry about getting off to slow starts and having a stagnant offense at the beginning of games. Also, if Rafer is such a good defender he would be the right guy to come of the bench and try to slow down the opposing PG. We need someone like AB to set up our Superstars for wide open shots. I'm praying that Coach realizes this before mid-season, unlike last years move when he finally inserted Scola into the starting line up, I understand he is a liability on defense against stronger PG's but if he gets his chance he can get those points back by making them play D and scoring points of his own. I pray that Adelman realizes this sooner rather than later, so we can become the dominant team I know we can be.
I would also like to add that I'm an OG AB fan. Y'all are jumping on the bandwagon at the usual time. I've been down since Oregon. Word.
Just to defend myself. I have not been an AB fan since Oregon, but I knew we picked a winner when I saw the type of ability he had. So I'd say I jumped on the bandwagon last year or so... And I'm jumping on the bandwagon right now before anything happens, on record Wafer is going to turn out to be a solid player coming off the bench. He's just stuck behind a lot of talent at the 2 & 3.
I didn't ever think he'd be a rotational NBA player due to his lack of size, but he's proven me wrong this year, at least for now. More than happy to eat crow on this one, we've needed it.
When people see some of my projections, they want say I'm crazy or I think I know more than the gm. I said before the season the rox should start brooks. Seasons before I said they needed a guy like artest in the worse way. I could go on and on, but I won't. I'm thinking of changing my name to Negrodamas
I think trusting the Morey and RA is the key. They know what they're doing. Give the team time to mesh and figure things out... and heal up and gain form.
