I don't know about you guys, but at this point, Aaron Brooks is the only reason why I watch the Rockets now... ...and surprisingly, Aaron brings life back in Luther's game as well, so I like to see both of them on the floor
Ditto. It's not too often us Rockets fans get to watch someone that we drafted ourselves try to make it into the rotation. We're used to bringing in washed up veterans to see if they can find the fountain of youth and revert to their youthful ways, which never happens. This is refreshing.
Rafer did a good job in that series. He hit a game-tying shot in Game 7 (it was a 3), during the 4th quarter. McGrady was sitting on the bench. T-Mac only shot .394 for that series. His underwhelming performance based on missed jumpers was the reason the Rockets lost. Admit it, T-Mac's soft. He could have attacked the hoop, he should have killed them offensively like AI, Kobe, or LeBron do during the playoffs, but he played passive. Most of the blame typically goes to Alston (the scapegoat), or Yao (the easy target). But Alston did his job, and hit some major shots. Yao averaged 25.1 PPG and 10.1 RPG, while guarding Okur/Boozer - and shot a higher percentage than McGrady. Both these guys had harder defensive assignments than T-Mac too. Throw in another max player in place of McGrady during that series, and the outcome would have been different. Pierce, Kobe, or LeBron, and the Rockets get out of the 1st round.
Brooks makes SOLID decisions out there...7 assists in 21 minutes tonight, the guy is just a good player. I like the rotation Adelman has settled on...glad to see Brooks and Scola getting some real time. DD
i'm not. at worst, rafer and hayes should be bench players. ridiculous. however, i LOVE the play of brooks/scola. you were right- brooks is the answer
He's still not ready to be a starter - teams will adjust to him and he'll hit walls - right now he's got a surprise factor because no one has seen him in the league. Also, we'll have to see when he faces tougher half-court defenses such as Detroit or SA....I'm sure he'll struggle a bit with that until he learns how to adjust - but the kid is going to definitely be a fixture at pg for the future. Scola is the one who has most impressed me, looks like his game is finally coming around to the NBA style.
you know i have to contribute to this thread some. you looked nice out there AB. the assists were great.
I only saw Brooks against Denver. He didn't have a good game but brought the ball up nicely. It's pleasing to know not only is he getting assists but he is starting to shoot better.I would to ask from guys who have seen him play either in person or on TV, has he played along with Yao? If yes,is he too quick for him or can he get the ball to him efficiently.
Dude, you are right. After watching tonight's game, I totally agree with you. Number zero is the hero.
I think AB should be bumped up to 30, give Rafer 20. Rafer can start for now and Brooks can close. Finally, a PG that is making our offense click. What a concept? You're analysis on this one was spot on, DaDa. Kudos.
I have been saying pretty much the same thing for years....a good PG makes all the difference in the world. Someone who can create for others....the difference is huge.....take the inside out offense, when players double Yao and he tosses it back out, often they are able to at least rotate to the shooter and get a hand up, but with a penetrating PG who sucks in the defense and passes it out...the defense is on it's heels and can not get out to contest the shot, it is a MUCH better shot. PG play is the most important thing in the NBA with the way the game is called.... Glad to see we finally have one that is developing nicely - for a change. DD
I remember one pass AB threw to Yao in the post that was perfect, all Yao had to do was turn for a layup around his man.
Yep, right in the middle of the lane from the top of the key.....AB can play, and is a joy to watch..... His minutes will rise and Rafers will fall, assuming Tmac is ok with someone else setting the table. DD
