Tanking for a top 4 pick is not how it used to be.

    For anyone getting very excited about a top 4 pick, there is a program on tankathon.com that splashes a bit of reality of what the ~50% chance to fall out of the top 4 picks looks like.

    I keep getting 6 out of 10 simulations with pick going to OKC... that’s just not cool. But it’s a reality.

    Thanks. I had no clue how the odds work and never heard of that website before. Deserves its own thread for sure.

    Sad, but true. It's the consequence of the failure of Tilman and Morey in the Westbrook deal.

    Yes, set in motion over a season ago.

    And we (Rockets) will honor our (Rockets) obligations if the pick falls out of top 4. Honorably.

    This is not directed at you personally saleem......others that forget this stems from the CP3-Westbrook transaction.

    It's still baffling Morey got robbed so bad in that deal, he and Harden both left Houston in a scorched Earth manner. Tillman is the root of the problem but it was really a 3 headed monster that decimated our squad. As a Rocket loyalist, I got no love for Tillman, Morey, or Harden.

    tankathon.com doesn’t take into account Adam Silver

    I bet Pelicans fans were getting a pick not in the top 4 6 outta 10 times too back in 2019 when running tankathon simulations

    Wolves getting the #1 overall pick B2B? I’ll say I bet we don’t see that happening

    Does the league want Cade Cunningham wasting away in Detroit or Orlando?

    The Rockets losing their pick this year is too devastating of a setback for the organization.

    It’s basically a coin flip so yeah a bunch of times you’re going to get tails when you wanted heads.

    I've never given credence to any of the theories about the draft being fixed, but if we land the top pick this year I'll gladly reconsider my assumptions. :D

    Whenever I run the simulator i get Rockets #1.
    And go back to not watching the Rockets. Keeps me sane.

    Don't worry I think Tillman is blowing Silver. One of them is taking it up the Hershey Milky Way so we can get that Top draft pick.

    Reality is what a coin flip looks like... Essentially, get a coin flip it and that is the odds of keeping out top pick this year.

    I’m just glad there seems to be building blocks on the team, in case Rockets are adding depth in the late first round instead of a potential building Franchise player.

    I don’t think Rockets have been in the lotto part of the draft since before Harden, so being bad doesn’t guarantee virtually anything. Since they changed the lottery part of the draft after the Rockets have been under this scenario.

    That was Harden and CP3 feuding. Morey’s hands were forced by Tillman and Harden. OKC knew they had Morey in a pickle of a situation...

    Morey bolted first chance he orchestrated. His disingenuously disguised time off. Yeah time off from Tillman.....
