I bet the kid knows what to do if he sharts in the shower. You're assuming the OP, who has started numerous threads about how horrible his employees are or how he gets caught staring unprofessionally at women he makes deliveries to, is giving you an accurate description of the conversation. Me? I take everything posted by this person with a grain of salt.
Same. When I was 17(6 years ago) I worked at a safety company for a summer and I remember getting a pay bump to $8 an hour for when I came back seasonally and thinking holy **** I'm making some $$$. Then again I had no bills outside of gas and insurance.
I understand the hotballa hate, but think is comment wrt to this one person, given his description of the event, might be valid (not wrt to a whole generation, though... mind you). 1. He placed an ad for a cashier position where he clearly let it be know what the compensation was. It's nice and all to say I negotiated a raise (which is different that a starting salary), or it doesn't hurt to try and negotiate... which is true... but 2. Sounds like the guy called back, after being told to go work at the place where he says he can make more. Count me in the camp that when there is an ad for a job that requires very little skill (sorry, standing on your feet 8 hours a day may freaking suck, but it's not a skill. the job market doesn't pay more based on which jobs suck the most) and clearly indicates what the wage rate will be for that skill... in today's job market, it IS stupid to try and negotiate a higher rate if truly trying to land that job. hotballa will incurr a lot more costs having to replace that employee later. The best bet, especially IF minimum wage is set to hike to $9 an hour in a year as was claimed (I have no idea), would be to get hired, perform well for a few months, and then argue for a raise. that would have been the smart thing to do.
Who cares? All you had to do was not hire him. Problem solved. Supid generation before us thinking they are right about everything.
ok lets run this post through a little bit. original thread he was referring to: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=7683286&postcount=1 yes because this post definitely says I sharted in the shower. I've made two or three threads at most in 3 years about my employees. One was about the guy who made the customers stretch for change so they could check out their breasts. One was about the 15 year old girl who was reading shades of grey at work. I don't remember what the other one was about. two or three times makes me a complainer? How many times have you whined and moaned about Clutch and the Right Wing Moderating Militia being unfair to you over a 3 month period in the past? original post he was referring to: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=233371 I turn my head towards the girl and that indicates I got caught staring? Sir, I am amazed and befuddled by the audacity and skill at which you mangled and distorted my original posts to try to show rocketracoon that I am not to be trusted when recounting a 30 second conversation. Because I CLEARLY, so so desperately want people to think of me as the Dos Equis guy of Clutchfans. Obviously you cannot trust the man who readily admits to you the stupid things he has done. You can only trust the man who tries so hard to project a cool, hip image on a message board. Lastly, you show up on at least 66% of threads I've started to say something like this: Mr. Hangout Boy, I point you to sentence 1 of the description of the Hangout forum. I have bolded the points I find interesting. There's also this handy tool that Clutch provides called the Ignore button. I'd readily encourage you to use it, but let's be honest, you're not going to. You're too sensitive to what people on your ignore list might say about you, because we just know you are the center of the universe, don't we? Well congratulations, your suspicions are correct! This is the longest time I've spent on a reply in months. You really are that important to me, it seems.
You should have asked him where a woman's peehole is. Then, after verifying his answer with someone who knows, you could have hired him for that extra .25. Of course, then you would start a thread about the supid, sex-crazed generation being raised. Complaining about how when you were his age, you didn't know, and even at your age you still barely grasp the concept, and what is wrong with kids today? Then you'd start a thread about how you farted in the face of a sitting woman while looking at her rack on the bus.
I third this. I generally avoid hottballa's trash but I had to click this to see why it went 4 pages...predicatably it's the same crap, people are talking about how ridiculous his thread is or how ridiculous his opinion about his strange subject is. He must be the least busiest, most lonely, "hard working" restuarant owner in the US...
I'm 23 years old. I worked for minimum wage in high school. I worked summers in college on golf course for what they offered when I applied. I never once asked for a raise in either position. I made sure to apply myself through college and earn my degree. I worked hard over a summer internship in order to impress my boss. I graduated in December and I am now working full-time where I interned after being extended a job offer to come back a couple months before I graduated. I made sure to work hard for what I've gotten so far and I never once expected more. I know I have gotten what I have earned and that I will continue to see my rewards directly correlated with the work I do. Not every parent is raising their kids to be like the one you spoke with. Please don't generalize us. It is insulting not to me, but to my parents to say that the kids they raised are "stupid and entitled" because we are part of this generation. If you are a parent yourself I am sure you wouldn't be happy if someone generalized and assumed your kids were a certain way either.
alright, you make a good point. I walk back from my generalization. Made it in the heat of the moment when I was ticked off especialy because because of the Rox pooping the bed. Sincere apologies to all 18-24 year olds on the board. and to all the folks that popped in just to say how stupid the thread was, please put me on ignore. It ain't that hard, and honestly noone cares that you think it's a dumb thread, especially if you wind up posting in it several times.
