Can we please redirect the Silas hate to the numerous other threads we have about how much he sucks thank you
can you point to one of such threads cause i cant find it? Spoiler you hater of silas haters! thanks btw i dont think theres any progress or positives with silas, and the thread title is misleading because of it, because it presupposes its existence... and even if there were positives or progress, even the positives would be negatives by the sheer power to detract from firing the clueless coach... like a winning streak, for a moment it looked like a positive thing but actually it was a negative, because it only served as a nice pretext for the silas agony to last longer and avoid firing this hater of greatness and basketball ignoramus
Here are 5 options, I've always been a fan of "I have grown to HATE" threads but you can choose whichever one calls out to you https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/fire-silas.313823/ https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/is-silas-and-coaching-staff-untouchable.313829/ https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/silas-is-a-horrible-head-coach.313564/ https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/why-isn’t-silas-on-the-hot-seat.313769/ https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/ive-grown-to-hate-stephen-silas.313470/
Either him or his dad who coached a team to the worst record ever in NBA history. Stephen Silas was the lead assistant on that team. Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
It's obvious that Silas is returning in 2023. But team can still improve its coaching with Silas as HC. Promote Abdelfattah from Vipers to Asst and have him run offense. Lucas will continue to develop shooting while assisting Abdelfattah on offense. Lucas familiarity with MDA concepts would be helpful here. Replace Hornacek with Brett Brown, will be in charge of defense. Weaver can assist Brown with defense. Draft Chet Holmgren or Jabari Smith Jr with Rockets 2022 FRP. Trade Jalen Green for 5th pick overall and draft AJ Griffin. Trade Wood, Tate, EGo, Theis, Augustin for Ben Simmons & Matisse Thybulle. SIXERS: LeVert, Tate, Theis, Augustin + Bucks 2022 FRP, Nets 2024 FRP + 2023 Pacers swap PACERS: Wood, EGo, Nwaba ROCKETS: Turner, Simmons, Thybulle, Craig Simmons/KPJ/Jaygup Mathews/Thybulle/Snipa AJ/KJ Jabari/Craig/Garuba Turner/Sengun *Rockets go from one of shortest lineups to one of the tallest - adding THREE starters who are +6'10 *Rockets add All Star PG *Rockets add FOUR elite 3ball shooters around Ben Simmons *Rockets improve iso defense, switch defense, rim protection & disruptions to ELITE levels *Rockets BIGS (Turner, Jabari, Sengun) are now all playable together and 2 out of 3 can be on court all times *** Switch Chet for Jabari and the above still works
I don’t really want Simmons, but if they could pull this off, I would be way on board. I don’t think there is a chance in hell to get Turner with that poo poo platter and no way the Rockets take the PR hit by trading Green after one year. I’m not sure if Ivey or Griffin are available that JG would get that pick. Sixers are still delusional on the haul they are going to get for Simmons (see article on Kings pulling out)
Even with Wood instead of Turner, the lineup still works. 6'10 Simmons/KPJ/Nix 6'3 EGo/Jaygup/Snipa 6'6 AJ/Mathews/Thybulle 7'1 Chet/KJ/Garuba 6'10 Wood/Sengun Chet-Wood-Sengun bigs rotation should still be an upgrade defensively and offensively. Sengun should be a good fit with either Chet or Wood who are excellent spacers with 3P threat and ability to attack closeouts. And Rockets would have 4 starters who are elite 3ball threats AND 4 starters with wingspan 7'0 or greater. Simmons-EGo-AJ would absolutely smother the perimeter defensively while Wood and Chet would put a lid on the rim as both have 7'5 or greater wingspans. Team rebounding would also be through the roof by adding 2 more double digit rebounders to starting unit.
