Speed Racer trailer (for better or worse, it's what anime looks like in real life)

Don't forget to add that there is always one of the characters grunting and going "ahhhhhhhhhhh!" while doing these weird stop motion manuevers.

 

I'm honestly shocked how many people didn't get to see this when they were a kid.

I don't recall any kid who didn't want the Mach 5. That car could jump over things, it had a turbo boost, it had cutting blades, it could dome itself up and go underwater. Am I forgetting others?

Now that I think of it, it was Knight Rider before that show even came out.

Regardless, that car made every guy I know want to drive as quickly as possible.

Here is a funny Techno Speed Racer song from the early 90's. Unfortunately, the only thing I could find with the full version is linked up to a BSG episode.

I recall playing this on my way down to Padre for Spring Break in 1991, IIRC.

Regardless, even though EVERY SINGLE word in this is from the Speed Racer cartoon, this is still more than likely NSFW.

I remember that. In south Florida that song made the local top 10 for a few weeks. Suffice it to say it was awkward hearing it in the car w/ my parents.

Some ravers here may recognize a similarity here. I'm pretty sure they got the concept from the classic deep house song, French Kiss by Lil' Louie Vega.

Totally remember that song. That came out in the late 80's. Man, they played that at every club we went to.

Most action movies based not in the present are going to be heavily CGI. People better get used to it.

 

There's a difference between photorealistic CGI and stuff where you can see the computer grey shading.

 

I like the "Speed Racer" Geico commercial.

Oh, that is ass! Show us some visuals! Who, in our youth, forgot "THE DEATH CAR!" (seriously, I recall this one more than any of the other ones. The "Death Car" always sounded like a toilet bowl to my brother and I)

He sure as **** should be, but like any american remake of Asian movies, they always make the guy white. I heard they gonna do the same with the Dragon Ball Z movie too. I know Goku is played by a white guy, but please make Vegeta Asian because he was that baddest mofo in DBZ.

I have almost all SR episodes on DVD and have raised my daughter to enjoy them.

There was also an episode where a villain created a replica Mach 5 that had all the features of Speed's Mach5, but also could fly (had wings) and also had a pulse cannon.

 

Speaking of music, does anyone know what the songs are that are playing in this trailer. Especially the song that starts 32 seconds in.......sweeeeeet mix.

 

That was my favorite episode! I remember trying to build the Mammoth Car with Lego blocks. Ah, memories.

I only check my mail once a week, but this weekend i picked it up and in my latest issue of Road and Track, they have a "write-up" and pics of the Mach 5 with performance notes, etc...Pretty cool...

On a side note, I should have bought a scaled version of the Mach 5 and Racer X years ago when i had the chance...Once the movie comes out, the merchandise will flood the market...

btw, it said the trailers were no longer available...

 

Not bad, but not as good as the domestic trailer. Don't know if I'm getting used to the way it looks, but the colors didn't seem to POP out at ya like the first one did.
